Essex FA – Sanctioned Alternative Referee Shirt Colour

Essex FA – Sanctioned Alternative Referee Shirt Colour

To All Essex FA Sanctioned Leagues

As you will be aware, back at the start of the year, we provided The FA with our match official’s feedback and Essex FA Council’s decision to support our officials to be allowed to wear one other non-black shirt in competitions, which Essex FA organises and/or sanctions from season 2017-18.

Following on from providing our feedback The FA Referees’ Committee, on Monday 6th March 2017, decided that a unilateral decision was inappropriate and agreed that each County FA should be allowed to decide, for those competitions, which they organise or sanction, whether to permit coloured shirts.

In light of the FA’s decision to allow County FA’s to sanction the use of coloured referee shirts and following on from the Councils prior agreement to support the sanctioning of one other non-black shirt I have carried out a full review on the team colours within our competitions.

After reviewing all of the information, I can confirm that the only shirt colour LEAST LIKELY to clash with team shirts within our competitions is Jade Green.

Therefore, it is our intention to shortly issue confirmation to our match officials operating within our sanctioned leagues that they can now wear the alternative Referee Shirt Colour. However, SHORTS AND SOCKS WILL REMAIN BLACK.
