02/12/2023 – Weekly Round-Up
ESBFL – WEEKLY ROUND-UP for 02/12/2023.
Once again, the weather played havoc with ESBFL fixtures last Saturday with only 16 matches started with one abandoned at half-time due to the pitch becoming too dangerous.
In the Premier Division there were wins for Barnston at Hatfield Peverel, Stanway Pegasus Reserves and Stanway Rover Reserves
Two games survived in Division One, one saw Dovercourt Rovers beat FC Clacton Reserves by a solitary goal and Mersea Island drew with Tiptree Jobserve, both teams welcoming the point.
Only one game went ahead in Division Two, White Notley Reserves racked up nine goals, four for Clifford (L), against luckless Hatfield Peverel Reserves, this win puts them top of the table after six straight victories.
In Division Three, Little Oakley Reserves picked up three points against Barnston Reserves making the long journey worthwhile, however, the Gosfield United versus Tollesbury match ended at half-time.
All three Division Four matches ended up as home wins for Roman Rovers Reserves, third, Stillwaters, who stay second, and Tiptree Heath Reserves, fifth.
Kelvedon chalked up another welcome three points, three for Sheppard, this moved them off the bottom of the table, whilst Mersea Island Reserves shared the points with Brooklands, who stay eleventh.
Numerous Cup games failed to go ahead but in the Tommy Thompson Cup there were victories for Brantham Athletic (Development) over Prettygate (penalties), Assington Stanley and The Rodings Reserves.
Any postponed Essex County Cup game will now be rescheduled to be played next weekend.
