ESSEX & SUFFOLK BORDER FOOTBALL LEAGUE            2024 / 2025

WEEKLY ROUND UP       @       03/05/2025.

There were six mid-week matches last week, three were in Division Two, Earls Colne Reserves beat fourth placed The Rodings to move ominously up to second, Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves beat their counterparts from Dedham Old Boys and Roman Rovers defeated Great Bentley Reserves. Division Three champions, Hatfield Peverel Reserves beat Barnston Reserves, this dented the loser’s chances of the divisional runners-up place, occupied by West Bergholt, who also lost out for the second time to neighbouring Wormingford Wanderers! Tendring Borough hit eleven (five for Coyle {K} and three for Coyle {T-L) against Mersea Island in Division Four to become the third team to score one hundred goals in that Division.

In a much reduced, programme last Saturday, seven matches were played but sadly three other matches were postponed because of a lack of players, points will no doubt be awarded and fines issued accordingly.

In Division two, Cressing United Reserves had a welcome win against Gas Recreation Reserves, Great Bentley Reserves beat Boxford Rovers and bottom team, White Notley Reserves beat Dedham Old Boys Reserves to give them every chance of overhauling Stillwaters.

There were two matches in Division Three, Tiptree Jobserve beat bottom team, Tendring District by four goals to three but third placed Barnston Reserves were held to a one-all draw by fourth placed Silver End United which means that West Bergholt are runners-up with one game to play.

Tendring Borough, in their last league match, scored four more against Hedinghams United Reserves who, after a promising early season start have finished in sixth place, the other match saw Harwich & Parkeston “A” beat local rivals Bradfield Rovers Reserves by four goals to one, League Welfare Officer, Rob Passmore was there to present the Division Four Runners-Up Cup.

Monday night would have seen the final of the Knock-Out Cup Final between Barnston AFC and Brightlingsea Town FC, played at Little Oakley, then on Friday 9^th May the Peter Andrews Charity Cup final will be played between Great Bentley FC and Sudbury Sports FC at Coggeshall Town FC, kick-off is 19:45pm.
