04/11/2023 – Weekly Round-Up

ESBFL – WEEKLY ROUND-UP for 04/11/2023.

          Surprisingly, sixteen matches survived the wet weather, twenty-one were postponed, and some unexpected results occurred in those that were played!

          With the bottom two Premier Division, teams without games, Sudbury Sports, Belle Vue Social and Earls Colne, four for Ladlow in their eight, all gained three points to widen the gap, Brightlingsea Town beat third placed Stanway Rovers Reserves by six goals without reply, and top team Colne Athletic were held to a draw by Silver End United.

          Division One was reduced to just two matches, third placed Cressing United beat fourth placed and much fancied, Kings Park Rangers to move up to second, and by beating Tavern on the road, CO4 Ultra’s have moved up to fifth, with four games in hand on those teams above them.

          In Division Two, White Notley Reserves afternoon out was worthwhile as they beat Cavendish to stay third in the table, Lewis Clifford scoring all four of their goals.

          There were two games to report on from Division Three, unbeaten Flitch United moved ominously up to third when beating Barnston Reserves, they also have games in hand, but there are new leaders as Dedham Old Boys Reserves beat second bottom, Prettygate.

          In the only match in Division Four, Oyster reached the summit by beating Tiptree Heath Reserves by two goals to one.

          Finally, Division Five, in the four matches played, there were victories for Boxted Lodgers Reserves, who go top after their win in their local derby against West Bergholt. Great Bentley “A” stay second after beating bottom team Kelvedon Social and in another derby, Ramsey & Mistley Reserves got the better of Bradfield Rovers Reserves by the odd goal in nine and in the other match Assington Stanley and Elmstead Market both failed to find the back of the net.

          With the season now twelve weeks old the leading goal-scorers are:
