ESSEX & SUFFOLK BORDER FOOTBALL LEAGUE            2024 / 2025

WEEKLY ROUND UP       @       05/04/2025.

Thorpe Athletic rounded off their first season in the Premier Division, finishing in fourth place after winning a close match against Belle Vue Social, three goals to two was the final score, all goals came from substitute, McAndrews, in his first match since mid-February.

With Brightlingsea Town only drawing against Belle Vue Social, Kings Park Rangers are the Premier Division Champions after beating Barnston and this win makes their lead unassailable, despite the top two teams still having to meet. The other game in the division was a game of two halves between Sudbury Sports and East Thurrock Community in a match played at Alresford Colne Rangers which ended at two goals apiece.

Division One is still an open contest, Great Bentley won at Hedinghams United to secure at least second place but with three matches remaining they can still match leaders Gas Recreation who have finished their season. Dovercourt Rovers are back up to third place after a comfortable win over Lawford Lads, at the bottom Bradfield Rovers finished their season with an away win over Cornard United Reserves, the team just above them.

There were three matches in Division Two, leaders, Tavern beat Great Bentley Reserves, Boxford Rovers beat bottom team White Notley Reserves whilst neither Dedham Old Boys Reserves nor Great Bradfords could find the net in a goalless draw!

In Division Three, Roman Rovers Reserves drew with Tiptree Jobserve, and there looked to be a welcome win for Tendring District over Ramsey & Mistley, the team just above them at the bottom of the table, however the match was abandoned due to a player injury.

Neither of the top two teams were in action in Division Four but there were three away wins recorded, Boxted Lodgers who stay third after beating Abbey Fields by five goals to nil, Brooklands edged past Bradfield Rovers Reserves with a solitary goal and Mersea Island won at Tollesbury.

Two of the leagues Cup competitions progressed.

In the Richard Degville Cup, Hatfield Peverel Reserves beat Wormingford Wanderers on penalties to set up a final against West Bergholt who beat Tendring Borough by three goals to two, that final is scheduled for Friday 25^th April 2025 at Little Oakley FC, KO: 19:45pm

The Tommy Thompson Cup was at the quarter-final stage, Earls Colne Reserves beat Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves by four goals to one, to reach the semi-final where they will play Tavern. In the other quarter-final ties, Barnston Reserves (four for Warnes), beat Kelvedon Social by five goals to one and they will play Roman Rovers who beat Gas Recreation Reserves by a single goal.
