The weather, as expected, took centre stage last weekend, of thirty-three scheduled matches only twelve took place, meaning that postponed county cup matches will revert to next Saturday and will require more fixture re-arrangements.

Brightlingsea Town beat Cressing United in the Premier Division to stay hard on the tail of inactive leaders, Kings Park Rangers, whilst basement team Tiptree Heath (three for Green) with only their second win of the season, drew level with White Notley when beating Sudbury Sports by five goals to nil.

One match survived in Division Two, this was a high scoring game that saw Roman Rovers hit five to the four scored by Gas Recreation Reserves.

Division Three had two matches, leaders Hatfield Peverel Reserves hit eight (three for Dingli) against Tiptree Heath Reserves and Silver End United scored six against the two from Flitch United.

Unbeaten leaders of Division Four, Silver End United Reserves, went nap against previously unbeaten Harwich & Parkeston “A” to stay top, the losers stay second, and Hedinghams United Reserves won by a single goal against lowly Elmstead Market Reserves to keep third spot. Tendring Borough won against Boxted Lodgers Reserves to retain fourth place and the final mid-table match saw Brooklands beat Roman Rovers “A” by four goals to one.

Elmstead Market beat Bradfield Rovers Reserves in the only Tommy Thompson Cup tie played and will play Kelvedon Social in the next round.

In the Essex Junior Cup, both Prettygate and Wormingford Wanderers Reserves lost to teams from the Prokit Essex Olympian League, leaving Cressing United Reserves, Earls Colne Reserves and White Notley Reserves hoping that they can play their postponed games next weekend.

In the Suffolk Junior Cup, Cavendish bowed out when losing to Stanton FC from the Suffolk & Ipswich League.

In the leading goal-scorer stakes, (including penalties), Barnard of Premier Division, Thorpe Athletic leads with nineteen (seven), Division One is Stratton of Bradfield Rovers with sixteen, Clifford of Earls Colne Reserves heads, Division Two with twenty-five (one). Coyle of Tendring Borough is leading the way in Division Four with thirty, but the overall top scorer with thirty-two is Dingli of Hatfield Peverel Reserves, whose team top Division Three.

After eighteen weeks of the season, there are three teams that remain unbeaten, leaders, Gas Recreation in Division One, The Rodings who lead Division Three and Silver End United Reserves in Division Four, on the reverse side Division Two, Assington Stanley, and Wormingford Wanderers Reserves in Division Three have yet to notch a win!
