            Apologies for no “full” match reports this week, however with two matches scheduled for Stranger Corner, Brightlingsea, this was an easy win, the afternoon was cold and a breeze blew up from the River Colne.

            Elmstead Market FC played Tiptree Heath FC Reserves in Division Three, a solitary goal by Joshua BEAVIS for the home team, before half-time was the only effort to find the net but there were plenty of near misses with both teams defending well and both goalkeepers making fine saves, just two cautions in a match well controlled by match official John McGill and with both teams accepting decisions with little back-chat!

DIVISION FOUR

            On the adjacent pitch, a Division Four match, bottom team Elmstead Market FC Reserves played Brooklands FC, unbeaten in seven matches and another match with plenty of effort and goals, the match official was Dan Hill, making a return to the ESBFL this season.

            Brooklands, as expected, scored first through Bobby MOORE but Elmstead Market Reserves drew level right on half-time through Bradley PACE. The second half was equally contested and with fifteen minutes remaining Bradley PACE scored again for the home team only for Brooklands to equalise five minutes later from the penalty spot, through Freddie NEWMAN, to set up a frantic, last few minutes as when a free kick was conceded on the edge of the penalty area, Marius STANESCU curled in a fine goal which turned out to be the winner. Both teams played their hearts out, no quarter given, not always a lot of skill on show, just a sheer determination to play the game fairly, only two cautions, neither were questioned as the referee was given an easy game, what a nice change, well done to both teams
