The home side got us underway at Top Road and Bergholt had the first opportunity on goal, a half-cleared header from Reece Speller fell kindly to Jake Bethell on the edge of the box who on the volley fired over the bar. Heath then had an excellent chance to take the lead on 9 minutes, a well-timed run by Green and a well-timed ball by Heath keeper Paddi Hawkins saw Charlie Green through on goal, Bethell came rushing off his line and Green chipped Bethell but unfortunately for Green, he’s chip went over the bar.
On 17 minutes, Heath took the lead, Callum Hunt with a great run down the far left, looked up and crossed in a great ball into Charlie Green who volleyed at goal, the volley came off the post and Green was quickest to react and Green calmly placed the rebound past Bethell to give Heath the lead!

3 minutes left until stoppage time and Bergholt somehow didn’t score, Lee Townrow was sent through on goal down the right-hand side, from a tight angle Paddi Hawkins came and closed down the angle and saved well, the rebound fell kindly back to Townrow who fired at goal but somehow Reece Speller blocked off the line.
Into the 2nd minute of stoppage time and a long ball up by Bergholt keeper Luke Bethell was missed judge by the Heath defence and Lee Townrow pounced and flicked the ball over a standing Paddi Hawkins and into the back of the net via the post.

FT: Tiptree Heath FC 2-1 West Bergholt FC

A great result for Gary Wood and Steve Chester and Tiptree Heath although over the 90 minutes Bergholt were probably the better side, Heath dug in deep and secured a valid 3 points which keeps them level points with Gas. Bergholt will definitely leave Top Road wondering how they didn’t get anything from that game but in football you have to take your chances and Heath certainly did that and Bergholt didn’t.
