ESSEX & SUFFOLK BORDER FOOTBALL LEAGUE            2026 / 2027

WEEKLY ROUND UP       @       22/08/2026.

On Tuesday evening, both Earls Colne and Springfield eked out one goal victories, whilst Thorpe Athletic grabbed a point against Gas Recreation, Wednesday evening saw Roman Rovers and Dovercourt shares the points in Division One, whereas in the Premier Division, Gosfield United, AFC Pegasus Colchester Reserves, Great Bentley and White Notley all secured wins.

On Saturday there were eight Premier Division matches, Earls Colne, sit top after a fourth straight win, this against rock bottom, Dedham Old Boys, Thorpe Athletic beat Cressing United to stay two points behind. There were first victories of the season for Gas Recreation and Tiptree Heath, against Springfield and Gosfield United respectively, Clacton Regent beat Alresford Colne Rangers, Sudbury Sports beat Stanway Rovers Reserves, The Rodings and Waltham apparently scored a last-minute winner against AFC Pegasus Reserves, who had a penalty kick saved before either team scored, but White Notley and Hatfield Peverel could not break the deadlock and settled for a goal apiece.

In Division One, Tavern, (three for Vickers), thumped Cavendish by eight goals to two, Silver End United hit five against Hatfield Peverel Reserves, Great Bentley Reserves beat Bradfield Rovers, Springfield Reserves also won, beating newcomers Birchanger Athletic and Prettygate secured a narrow one goal victory against a young Wivenhoe Town Reserves.

Division Two also had five matches, early leaders are West Bergholt, who beat Stillwaters, Colchester Tekkers sit second, after their win over Frinton & Walton, those top two teams meet next weekend. Harwich & Parkeston “A” won the local derby against Lawford Lads, Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves got their first points of the season when beating Tiptree Jobserve and another Suffolk team, Boxford Rovers had a day trip to newcomers, Emerson and Upminster (four for Stringer) and lost by nine goals to one!

In a new division, Division Three South, Hedinghams United Reserves beat Beaulieu Park by two goals to nil.

Thursday evening sees the Fred Brooks Memorial Final between Birchanger Athletic (MEFL) and Bradfield Rovers (ESBFL), kick-off is 19:45pm at Witham Town FC.
