ESBFL – Referees Fees – Clarification

Consequent upon some confusion surrounding the fees to be paid to Referees and Assistant Referees, especially for Premier Division fixtures, herewith is the relevant Rule from the ESBFL Handbook (p96).

Rule 13 (E) Referees

Match Officials appointed under this Rule shall be entitled to charge travel expenses of 0p per mile together with the following match fees:-

Premier Division only:

Referee £40.00 inclusive, Registered Referees appointed by the Management Committee as Assistant Referees £25.00 inclusive, subject to any limits laid down by the sanctioning Association.

(currently £40.00 inclusive for Referees and £25.00 inclusive for Assistant Referees).

All other Divisions:

Referee £35.00 inclusive, Registered Referees appointed by the Management Committee as Assistant Referees £20.00 inclusive, subject to any limits laid down by the sanctioning Association.

(currently £35.00 inclusive for Referees and £20.00 inclusive for Assistant Referees).

Subject to any limits/provisions laid down by the Sanctioning Association, Match Officials appointed under this Rule shall be paid their fees and expenses in accordance with the Fees Tariff.

Match Officials will be paid their fees and/or expenses by the home Club unless otherwise ordered by the Management Committee. Failure to comply with this Rule will result in a fine (in accordance with the Fines Tariff).
