WEEKLY ROUND-UP for 10/12/2022

The only winner last weekend was the weather, of twenty-nine scheduled fixtures, only eight started and one of those was abandoned!

Top goal-scorers of the day were Division Three, top team, Great Bentley FC Reserves who scored ten goals, Lewis Evans hit four goals and Adam Morton, two, against a very much understrength Sporting Rebels FC who had Tommy Rose to thank for three of their four goals.

In Division Four previously unbeaten Ramsey & Mistley FC lost their first league game of the season against Wormingford Wanderers FC Reserves, two goals there for William Batten, whilst the High Roding FC match against Kelvedon Social FC Reserves only got to thirty-five minutes when proceedings were halted with the home team two goals to one ahead.

Division Five saw Mersea Island FC Reserves beat island, based rivals, Oyster FC by four goals to the three, the visitor’s goals were all scored by Taylor Dickson, elsewhere Roman Rovers FC Reserves, with six different scorers hit eight against plucky Brooklands FC.

In the only KO Cup match played Division One, Tiptree Jobserve FC as expected beat Division Four, Roman Rovers FC by four goals to two and in the only Reserve KO Cup match Brantham Athletic FC “A” progressed after beating Cavendish FC Reserves by five goals to two.

The only other match saw Kelvedon Social FC “A” bow out of the Essex Junior Trophy losing by four goals to one against Hutton FC “B”.

Clubs should note that postponed County matches will take precedence over League matches and therefore numerous fixture changes will be announced.
