Essex & Suffolk Border League Round Up 12th October 2019.
In the Premier Division Stanway Pegasus FC are six points clear following a comprehensive 3-0 win at struggling Earls Colne FC who are positioned in the bottom three.
Meanwhile Barnston AFC at home were securing their fourth league win beating White Notley FC who remain in 15th place. Charlie Hannam got the goals whilst Sean Radley replied and Dean Grace, Ben Palmer and Regan Farley-Hearn all received their marching orders!
Hatfield Peveral FC were again on the rampage with an overwhelming 8-0 victory at Brantham Athletic FC Reserves who are firmly in the basement position and on present form look like relegation fodder. Lawrence Hale who netted five times last week scored once along with Paul Grimsey, Lewis Nial, Ryan Whiteman whilst it was Joel Older who grabbed the headlines with four goals.
It was an exciting match at West Bergholt FC who entertained Flitch United FC where both sides shared six goals. ‘Bergholt were indebted to Jack Harrington, Liam Springett and David Weir for their goals, whilst for the visitors a brace from James Oates and one from Mathew Wickham ensured parity after 90 minutes.
Another six-goal thriller was played out at Dedham Old Boys FC where Great Bentley FC were the visitors. James Parker, John Vitelli and Harry Welham were the home marksman. Great Bentley FC, who are having a decent campaign, replied through Dale Brown and a brace form Charlie Darling and are now 4th in the table.
Tiptree Heath FC have moved into second place with a convincing 3-0 win over Tiptree Engaine FC with goals from Charlie Green, Ryan Knill-Jones and Benjamin Turner.
Lawford Lads FC and Little Oakley FC Reserves fought out a 1-1 draw at School Lane with Oliver Mann striking his 12th goal of the season for the ‘Lads’ with Jacob Kioussis replying.
In Division One promoted Gosfield United FC lead the table by one point with a comfortable victory at Belle Vue Social FC. Josh Grimes scored the home goal and Mark Wiskin’s side prevailed through Jack Gilder, Bobby Pike and two from Andrew Turner.
Meanwhile Cressing United FC beat visiting Mersea Island FC 3-1 to keep in touch with the chasing pack and Sudbury Sports FC won their Friday night clash when they beat a spirited Boxted Lodgers FC 6-0.
Bures United FC beat lowly Little Oakley FC “A” 6-2. Two goals each from Ashley Drew and Courtney Prince and one each from Thomas Bailey and Lloyd Finch set them on their way, but the visitors responded through Josh Pearce and Marvin Upson.
In the Third Division, Oyster FC are top of the table following a thrashing of luckless Cavendish FC Reserves 9-1. Ben Scholes helped himself to a hat trick and Danny Clements hit two and there were one each for Jay Barber, Matt Barber, Sam Barber and Alex Washington.
Third placed St Osyth FC also overwhelmed their visitors, Brantham Athletic FC “A” 6-1. A Kalon Harms hat trick set them on their way with Mason Garey, Ben Mann and Ben O’Hara completing the scoring
In the Essex Premier Cup, Gas Recreation FC moved into the next round with a 3-1 win over Arthurian League side Old Forresters. Luke Edwards, Aston Firkins and Luke Taylor were the scorers.
In the Essex Junior Cup there was a notable win for Lawford Lads FC Reserves beating their hosts Witham Town FC Under 23’s 1-0 with the solitary goal from James Lee.
FC Clacton Reserves went through against Langham Lodgers FC 3-2 with goals from Lyndon Bramhall, Jordon Brazitis and Charlie Toms.
