Play Safe Weekend 2023
Saturday 30th September – Sunday 1st October

Everywhere. Every time. Everyone.
We all have a role to play to keep children safe.

This means positively influencing every player, coach/manager, club official, volunteer, parent/carer, match official and spectator.

To do this, we have emailed clubs in your league encouraging them to do three things in the lead up to the weekend and over the weekend itself:

1. Before the weekend
Make an online pledge to commit to Play Safe, sharing your club’s actions on the weekend itself. We’ll be sending you a link to make your pledge and examples of what you could do, but please feel free to get creative and generate ideas that raise awareness of safeguarding at your club. This includes 16/17-year-old players in open age football, young referees and coaches, for example.

2. Leading up to and on the weekend
Use the digital assets we’ll be sending you in August on your club’s communication channels to demonstrate your commitment to safeguarding.

3. Also on the Play Safe weekend
If you run youth teams, please get each youth team captain to wear the Play Safe-branded armbands we’ll be sending you. We’ll also be dispatching Play Safe pin badges to be worn by coaches and Club Welfare Officers of clubs with youth teams.

We also encourage you to support Play Safe 2023 by using the digital assets on your league communications channels and pledging to support the campaign.

We’ll be in touch again in August to send you everything you need. In meantime, have a great summer before the build-up to 2023/24 begins.
