SOCIAL MEDIA – Use responsibly or not at all! (REMINDER)
Despite the ESBFL’s polite request dated 20th September 2020 and various incidences “nipped-in-the-bud” since then, there still remains a small faction of “Social Media” users who continue with inappropriate comments about Clubs / Teams / Players / Officials.
Once again, this week and not for the first time this season, the ESBFL has been made aware of adverse comments posted on Social Media platforms, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.
Clubs, Management and Players may feel they need to “take-a-pop” at someone or get frustrated by certain occurrences before, during or after matches played in the ESBFL, however these comments may and often are deemed to be derogatory to a fellow participant/s.
The ESBFL will continue to take a strong stance of any such notified incidences and will report them further to ECFA, if not already reported directly by the offended party.
The ECFA also monitor Social Media sites as a matter of course, and if these “posts” are found to be “not in the spirit of the game” or bring the reputation of the ESBFL Competition into disrepute, then these will almost certainly lead to a Disciplinary Charge against the “author”, this could be a Club or a Player or both.
Therefore, once again, going forward, the ESBFL request that future use of “Social Media“ platforms is carefully considered before being posted with any perceived issues being directed to the League Secretary by the Club Representative / Club Secretary and / or the relevant ESBFL Management Committee member.
