SPECTATORS – Return of Grassroots Football w.e.f. 03rd April 2021

The current understanding of the guidance to be published this week is that no spectators will be permitted in adult football during the initial phase of the resumption of grassroots football, so the League and Clubs should publicise that no spectators are permitted on web-sites and social media and Clubs may elect to put up additional signage at their grounds or around the pitch to make this clear to anyone intending to attend.

They could also, as you have set out, speak to people and ask them to move on.

From a County FA perspective, if spectators at a ground were reported to us as a potential breach of The FA’s guidelines, then we would investigate this and, if necessary, provide education in the first instance, depending on what steps had been taken to prevent this.

We would have no control over what the local authority or police decided to do in that instance, but we would hope that, if the above steps had been taken, they would recognise that the blame lay with the individuals disobeying instructions rather than the club.
