ESBFL – WEEKLY ROUND-UP for 07/10/2023.

          Premier Division front-runners, Colne Athletic in the BBC Essex Premier Cup against Old Chelmsfordians through, 10-9 on penalties after being level at two goals apiece, in the same competition, Stanway Rovers Community U23’s and Alresford Colne Rangers were beaten, and West Bergholt withdrew.

          In the remaining First Round Knock-Out Cup, the match between Silver End United and Cornard United Reserves was abandoned following a serious injury to a Cornard player, we wish him a speedy recovery.

          In the Premier Division there were victories for Barnston, Dedham Old Boys, Hatfield Peverel and Stanway Pegasus Reserves with Brightlingsea Town, three for Sauka, and White Notley sharing eight goals.

          Division One saw a full fixture list, leaders Thorpe were held at Gt Bentley, Dovercourt and Cressing also shared the points, Kings Park succumbed to Tiptree Jobserve, for whom it was their first points of the season, CO4 Ultra’s also lost, this time to struggling, The Rodings, and FC Clacton Reserves beat Wormingford Wanderers to move up to second.

          Division Two was dominated by four away wins for second placed, Bradfield Rovers, Cavendish, Tiptree Jobserve Reserves and the days surprise Frinton & Walton who beat previously unbeaten Gas Recreation at Bromley Road, in the other match Colne Athletic Reserves drew with Boxted Lodgers.

          Highest scorers of the day were Third Division, Flitch United who hit nine goals against Dedham Old Boys Reserves, four for Gale and three for mason, Gosfield United went top after beating luckless Tollesbury, elsewhere, there were wins for Gas Recreation Reserves and Little Oakley Reserves.

          There were seven matches in Division Four, a first win and points for FC Clacton “A” against previously unbeaten Stillwaters and Great Bradfords picked up a point against Roman Rovers Reserves. There were also wins for Boxford Rovers, Oyster, Tiptree Heath Reserves, The Rodings Reserves, and leaders Brantham Athletic (Development).

          Bradfield Rovers Reserves and Great Bentley “A” head Division Five, Assington Stanley won to move up to third, Elmstead Market got their second win against second bottom Kelvedon Social with Ramsey & Mistley Reserves getting a point against Boxted Lodger Reserves.
