ESBFL – WEEKLY ROUND-UP for 30/09/2023.

          It’s the end of September already, on Saturday four Teams, Colne Athletic Reserves, Lawford Lads Reserves, The Rodings Reserves, Kelvedon Social won their first matches of the season.

          In the Reserve KO Cup, Division Three, Barnson Reserves hit Division Five, Ramsey & Mistley Reserves for six without reply, meaning the First Round is now complete.

          Brooklands remain unbeaten in Division Five, six teams, Brantham Athletic (Development, Stillwaters, Tendring District, Oyster, Tiptree Heath Reserves and The Rodings Reserves have that distinction in Division Four. Also unbeaten are Great Bentley Reserves and Flitch United in Division Three, its Gas Recreation in Division Two, and Thorpe and CO4 Ultras in Division One.

          In the Premier Division, Colne Athletic show no signs of slipping up when beating second placed Stanway Rovers Community Reserves, which allowed Hatfield Peverel and White Notley to move into third and fourth on the same number of points, Tiptree Heath, three goals for Chesney, got back to winning ways, Silver End came from behind to beat Sudbury Sports, Belle Vue Social beat Earls Colne whilst Stanway Pegasus Reserves shared six goals with Dedham Old Boys.

          The top game in Division One was fourth placed Kings Park Rangers against top team, Thorpe Athletic, the home team were two goals ahead at half-time, but the visitors clawed it back to share the points, the match referee has commented that the players and management were a credit to their Clubs and the ESBFL, praise indeed. There were victories for Cressing, FC Clacton Reserves, Tavern, and Mersea Island.

          In Division Two, Roman Rovers and White Notley Reserves, a last-minute goal there, won at home with Bradfield Rovers, Colne Athletic Reserves and Hatfield Peverel Reserves winning on the road.

          The four matches in Division Three all resulted in home wins for Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves, Gosfield United, Lawford Lads Reserves and Great Bentley Reserves who sit at the top of the table.

          There were seven games in Division Four, the top five teams all won, Brantham Athletic (Development) stay top, Stillwaters, second, Tendring District, Oyster, three goals for Joyce, and Tiptree Heath Reserves lead the chase, with The Rodings Reserves and Roman Rovers Reserves, three goals for West, also getting three points.

          In the bottom Division, four matches were played, Great Bentley “A” took top spot with Hedinghams United Reserves only managing a draw, Assington Stanley, move up to third and Kelvedon Social also got three points.
