ESSEX & SUFFOLK BORDER FOOTBALL LEAGUE            2025 / 2026

WEEKLY ROUND UP       @       10/01/2026.

Despite torrential rain, late in the week, only ten matches were postponed, one was a cup match and two were county cup matches, which will probably be arranged for next weekend.

In the Premier Division, third placed Great Bentley edged out fourth placed Hatfield Peverel by a single goal, second bottom White Notley won against Gas Recreation, Dedham Old Boys scored three against AFC Pegasus Colchester and move up to seventh. Struggling Alresford Colne Rangers managed to get their seasons goals scored tally into double figures but that was not enough as Tiptree Heath registered four, the other three matches were postponed.

Division One saw five matches played with just one postponement, there were twenty-six goals overall, more than half were scored in the Gosfield United versus Hedinghams United match, the league leaders hitting ten (four for Matthews {J}), but conceding four! Prettygate without a win in four outings were soundly beaten by Clacton Regent (three for both Andrade and Russell), who hit seven without reply to move up to third, the bottom two teams, Lawford Lads and FC Clacton Reserves failed to find the net. The team just above them, Hatfield Peverel Reserves beat Roman Rovers by the odd goal in three and finally, Tavern, who switched their match to Clacton Leisure Centre, beat Great Bentley Reserves by two goals to nil to go fifth.

The top two teams in Division Two, Bradfield Rovers and Silver End United met at Harwich & Dovercourt High School, the home team were ahead at half-time, but the visitors pulled a goal back for a share of the points. Third placed West Bergholt beat Cressing United Reserves to keep in touch with the top two, and Gas Recreation Reserves stay fourth after beating Cavendish, the last match Springfield Reserves against Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves was abandoned, Essex County FA will now become involved!

In the only Third Division match, unbeaten and third placed Great Bentley “A”, with games in hand, hit six without reply against Oyster.

There was also only one match in Division Four, bottom team, Elmstead Market Reserves narrowly succumbing to Stanway Rovers EVL Development by two goals to one.

Two Richard Degville cup ties were played, in the, all Division Three clash, Silver End United Reserves (three for Rickard), went nap, scoring five to beat Elmstead Market and in the, all Division Four tie, Rayne beat Bradfield Rovers Reserves by four goals to nil.

In the only Essex Junior Cup tie played, Hutton “B” beat White Notley Reserves by five goals to nil, hopefully Tiptree Jobserve and Wormingford Wanderers can progress when their matches are re-arranged.
