ESSEX & SUFFOLK BORDER FOOTBALL LEAGUE            2025 / 2026

WEEKLY ROUND UP       @       11/10/2025.

East Thurrock, when beating Springfield, maintained their top spot in the Premier Division, Great Bentley kept pace by beating Dedham Old Boys, Hatfield Peverel moved up to third after beating Gas Recreation, Sudbury Sports (four for Leeks) beat White Notley to move up to fifth but Thorpe Athletic stay fourth despite losing at home to Cressing United. In the other two matches Belle Vue and Tiptree Heath shared two goals as did Earls Colne and Alresford Colne Rangers, for whom it was their first point of the season after eleven attempts!

There were five matches in Division One, the top two teams, the Rodings & Little Waltham (six) and Gosfield United (four) both won against FC Clacton Reserves and Great Bentley Reserves respectively. With Clacton Regent standing idle, Tavern (six) and Roman Rovers (four) both moved up one place when beating Lawford Lads and Frinton & Walton. The fifth match saw Dovercourt Rovers hit five against bottom team Hatfield Peverel Reserves.

Division Two had just one match, in the top versus bottom match, Bradfield Rovers (three for both Allington and Davis) scored eight against Great Bradfords.

Top team in Division Three, Tiptree Jobserve won by a single goal against Stillwaters, unbeaten Elmstead Market inflicted a first defeat of the season on second placed Harwich & Parkeston “A” whilst Silver End Reserves hit five against Roman Rovers Reserves in the bottom of the table clash.

Frinton & Walton Reserves stay top in Division Four, after hitting seven goals against Stanway Rovers EVL Development and stay one point ahead of Roman Rovers “A” who hit five against third placed Ramsey & Mistley. Prettygate Reserves moved up to fourth after beating Tollesbury, just a point ahead of West Bergholt Reserves who won against lowly Tendring District and in another high scoring game, Kelvedon edged out Wormingford Wanderers Reserves by the odd goal in seven.

There were two Knock-Out Cup ties, Wormingford Wanderers beat Brooklands and Prettygate beat Cavendish, both with the same scoreline of three goals to one.

Great Bentley “A” progressed in the Tommy Thompson Cup when beating Oyster.

Hedinghams United, who had football pundit, Chris “Kammy” Kamara in attendance to officially open their re-vamped Clubhouse, beat London East by two goals to one, this was in the Amateur FA Challenge Cup, their next opponents could be from anywhere in the London region, in fact the will play Queen Mary College Old Boys First, from the Southern Amateur League, Intermediate North, who play at Fairlop Oaks Sports Ground, Barkingside!

In the Essex Junior Cup, Boxted Lodgers lost out to Heybridge Swifts Reserves, Cressing United Reserves beat Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves on penalty kicks, Springfield Reserves beat Stock United, White Notley Reserves beat Witham Town Reserves in a nine-goal thriller and Wivenhoe United beat Mersea Island!

Rayne put ten goals (four for Beckwith-Addison) past Bradfield Rovers Reserves, whom they had lost Against last weekend, that was in the league, this match was in the Essex Junior Trophy!

Finally, Boxford Rovers were beaten by Bramford United in the Suffolk Primary Cup.
