ESSEX & SUFFOLK BORDER FOOTBALL LEAGUE            2025 / 2026

WEEKLY ROUND UP       @       13/12/2025.

The Premier Division hosted five matches, three had just the one goal, Thorpe Athletic beating AFC Pegasus, Tiptree Heath beating Gas Recreation and Earls Colne beating Springfield, one game, Belle Vue Social versus White Notley was drawn. With the top three teams without a league match the biggest winners were Hatfield Peverel who beat Cressing United by three goals to one, to remain in fourth place.

In Division One, Gosfield United scored six without reply against Frinton & Walton and remain top above The Rodings and Little Waltham who beat Great Bentley Reserves by three goals to nil. In a topsy-turvy division, Dovercourt Rovers moved above Clacton Regent whom they beat by the odd goal in three, and Tavern beat Hedinghams United by three goals to two.

Great Bradfords, now the only team without a victory, remain rooted to the bottom of Division Two, losing by four goals to three against Boxford Rovers. The team just above them, Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves lost by four goals to one against Cressing United Reserves who move up three places. Third placed West Bergholt beat second placed Silver End United by two goals to one, third bottom, White Notley Reserves scored three but conceded ten against rampant league leaders, Bradfield Rovers, (three for both Allington and Purll), the final game also had goals, seven in fact, five were scored by Gas Recreation Reserves (three for Maiden), against the two from Springfield Reserves.

There were five matches and plenty of goals in Division Three, winless Roman Rovers Reserves (three for both Brooks and Heap), won their first match of the season when beating Brooklands by seven goals to three. Leaders Harwich & Parkeston “A” beat Boxted Lodgers and with the same, three-two scoreline, Tiptree Jobserve, were fortunate to beat Wivenhoe United, who had what looked like a perfectly good goal, disallowed! Elmstead Market and Oyster shared four goals and Mersea Island beat Stillwaters by two goals to nil.

The two basement teams, Tendring District and Elmstead Market Reserves met in Division Four, nothing changes as both teams failed to find the net! Roman Rovers “A” remain top after demolishing Kelvedon Social by six goals to one, second placed Frinton & Walton Reserves (three for O’Brien), went nap against Bradfield Rovers Reserves, but top divisional scorers were Tollesbury with seven (three for Knill-Jones), against the one from Stanway Rovers EVL Development. Ramsey & Mistley stay fourth after beating West Bergholt Reserves and finally Wormingford Reserves beat Prettygate Reserves by three goals to two.

There were two outstanding Knock-Out Cup ties, neither produced a shock as Dedham Old Boys (three for Slack), beat FC Clacton Reserves by six goals to nil and Great Bentley scored five (three for Baker {K}) without conceding against Prettygate.

There was a surprise result however, when Division Four, Rayne beat unbeaten Great Bentley “A” from Division Three by the odd goal in five, this was in the Tommy Thompson Cup.

Wormingford Wanderers, (four for Barnett), progressed in the Essex Junior Cup when they beat Shefield Association “A” by five goals to two and they will be at home to Fleet FC in mid-January 2026.

Finally, Cavendish, hit eight goals in the Suffolk FA Primary Cup, this was away against Corton & Carlton Coleville Reserves.
