ESSEX & SUFFOLK BORDER FOOTBALL LEAGUE            2024 / 2025

WEEKLY ROUND UP       @       21/12/2024.

Two matches fell because of the weather, another was cancelled because of insufficient player’s and one was abandoned through a player injury, other than that a fairly busy schedule last Saturday.

In the Premier Division there were six matches, leaders Kings Park Rangers won by the only goal at Stanway Pegasus Reserves, Thorpe Athletic won at Hatfield Peverel to cement third spot and Earls Colne (three for Raven), beat Alresford Colne Rangers, moving ahead of Cressing United who lost at Sudbury Sports. The Tiptree Heath mini revival continued with a win at Belle Vue Social whilst Dedham Old Boys, with their tenth draw got a point at Barnston.

It also remains tight in Division One, leaders Gas Recreation drew with second placed Dovercourt Rovers, Little Oakley Reserves moved up to third with a win on Great Bentley Green. Frinton & Walton moved up to sixth after beating Bradfield Rovers and basement team Cavendish, having had four points removed following the demise of Tiptree Jobserve, whose playing record has now been removed, got three points against Cornard United Reserves.

Great Bentley Reserves against Boxford Rovers, Great Bradfords against Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves, Prettygate against Cressing United Reserves, Tavern against Stillwaters and unbeaten Division Two, leaders, The Rodings against Dedham Old Boys Reserves all won meaning Great Bradfords move up one place and Great Bentley Reserves three places.

There was a full complement of seven matches in Division Three, bottom team Wormingford Wanderers Reserves (three for Rout) got only their second win, this over Elmstead Market, Flitch United beat Ramsey & Mistley, Great Bentley “A” beat Barnston Reserves to move above them in the table, Roman Rovers beat Tiptree Jobserve Reserves, second placed West Bergholt beat Oyster and leaders Hatfield Peverel Reserves scored six at Tendring District.

Once again, Division Four had all the goals, leaders Silver End United Reserves hit twelve (among seven different scorers there were three for Sopowski) against plucky Tollesbury, second placed Harwich & Parkeston “A” scored nine, (four for Smith and three for Clarke), against bottom team Stillwaters Reserves, as did Boxted Lodgers Reserves (three each for Johns, Lewis and, Whitnell) against Bradfield Rovers Reserves. Elsewhere, third placed Hedinghams Reserves beat Abbey Fields, Tendring Borough (three for Coyle) beat West Bergholt Reserves, Brooklands made it four wins in a row against Kelvedon Social and by conceding five goals against Mersea Island, Elmstead Market Reserves have hit the one hundred goals against mark, but commendably they turn up every week!
