ESSEX & SUFFOLK BORDER FOOTBALL LEAGUE            2024 / 2025

WEEKLY ROUND UP       @       28/12/2024.

The last Saturday of 2024 had just thirteen matches spread across all divisions and three cup competitions, the lack of pitches provided by the council or schools at this time of year being the main cause of the reduced programme.

Premier Division, Barnston (three for Bowen) stopped the Tiptree Heath revival, winning by five goals to one at home, whilst East Thurrock Community scored four without replay at Belle View Social who stay second bottom.

There was one game in Division One, Frinton & Walton moved up to third in the table when beating bottom team Cavendish by three goals to one on their travels into Suffolk.

Division Two had two matches, unbeaten leaders The Rodings scored three to beat Boxford Rovers and second bottom White Notley Reserves (three for Prosser) beat Stillwaters, the team above them by six goals to three.

There were plenty of goals in Division Three, second placed, West Bergholt (three for Brooks) led the way with nine against Ramsey & Mistley and a strengthened Hatfield Peverel Reserves team found the net seven times against Wormingford Wanderers Reserves to stay top. Oyster got the better of Flitch United by the odd goal in five and Elmstead Market scored the only goal of the match in the ninety-second minute to beat Roman Rovers Reserves.

The only game in Division Four was a draw, Boxted Lodgers Reserves sharing six goals with Kelvedon Social.

There were also three outstanding cup matches, Premier Division, Alresford Colne Rangers came from two goals down to beat Division One leaders Gas Recreation in the Peter Andrews Charity Cup.

In the Reserve Knock-Out cup, Division Four leaders, Silver End United Reserves won on penalties against Great Bentley Reserves of Division Two.

Finally, Dedham Old Boys Reserves from Division Two beat Division Four, Hedinghams United Reserves in the Tommy Thompson Cup.
