Gosfield United FC v Tiptree Engaine FC Reserves

Mark Wiskin’s Gosfield United welcomed Tiptree Engaine Reserves to Church Road in this top of the table game in division three. The home side Gosfield came into this game top, 8 points clear off second who are Tiptree Engaine Reserves. Would Engaine close the gap to 5 points or would the hosts go 11 points clear?

The home side got us underway at Church Road but it was the visitors who had the first chance of the game, Jamie Preece with a brilliant through ball to Tom Chapman who got in behind the Gosfield defence, he got into the box and was about to pull the trigger but Ryan Vickery had other ideas and brilliantly came across and slid in and stopped Engaine from opening the deadlock.
Ryan Gemmell then had a effort from 30 yards which went just wide of the post.
The home side then had a great chance of their own on 6 minutes, Bobby Pike with a well-timed ball through towards Andy Turner who went on and fired at goal, but Harry Owen saved really well with his legs.
Bobby Pike then had his cross hit the bar when an overhit ball was misjudged by Owen and the ball came off the bar and back into play.
Adam Smith, Gosfield Captain, was using his long throws as an advantage and a quickly taken throw found the run off Jake Gilder who was in behind the Engaine defence and opened up and fired at goal, but Harry Owen once again saved well with his legs.
Tiptree Engaine then had a great chance on 25 minutes to go ahead when Robert Kelliher placed a fantastic ball through which met the run off Elliot Aves who ran at goal, opened up and slotted his effort past the keeper but also past the post.
Gosfield continued to look for a goal to open the scoring and came very close when a smart one two between Adam Smith and Alex Greaves saw Smith opened up from 25 yards and fire a low effort at goal which required a strong hand from Harry Owen to keep the score level.
Some good link up play, between Bobby Pike and Jake Gilder saw Pike fire a great effort from 30 yards which once again required a top save from Harry Owen.
On the stroke off Half time and Engaine almost went ahead when an Elliot Aves cross was cleared to the edge of the box in which Ryan Gemmell was there, he fired on the volley straight at goal but that went safely into the hands of Oliver Reeves.

The second kicked off with the visitors kicking us off and the deadlock was broken just 3 minutes into the half and it was the hosts who went ahead, Andy Turner with a ball out wide to the far right to Jake Gilder, Gilder got it under control and ran into the box, cut back off his man and curled a low effort into the bottom left corner from the edge of the box to give Gosfield United the lead.

Gosfield United 2-0 Tiptree Engaine Reserves
3 minutes later and Gosfield had a third, a quick counter attack, Andy Turner with a ball out wide to Jake Gilder, Gilder dribbled into the box, cut a ball back to Turner whose effort 8 yards out was well saved by Owen but Josh Green was there to tap in to grab Gosfield a 3rd goal on 57 minutes.

Gosfield almost had a 4th straight from kick off, Smith winning the ball in the midfield played a ball to Gilder who played a ball through to Andy Turner who went through on goal but fired his shot wide of the post.
Gosfield then went and hit the post from a Adam Smith corner, Smith delivered a corner into the box which met the head off Engaine defender Steve Evans who’s header skimmed the post and went back into play.

Gosfield then had a 4th with 20 minutes to go and it was the Sub Liam Bowman who was on the score sheet, Luke Jones found himself with a load of space on the far right, he ran into the box and laid it off to Jake Gilder who had his effort blocked and the rebound fell to Bowman who got the ball under control and fired home into the bottom left corner to grab Gosfield a 4th.
Gosfield United 4-0 Tiptree Engaine Reserves
Tiptree Engaine then had a chance of their own when a corner was crossed in and fell kindly to Tom Chapman, but we could only fire his effort over the bar.
Good link up play between Tom Doughty and Liam Bowman saw Doughty In behind but he failed to take advantage and into added time Gosfield had their 5th to round off a good afternoon, Bobby Pike with a long high ball into the box saw some confusion between Harry Owen & Mikey Bilton and Bilton headed past Owen and all that was left for Luke Jones to do was tap into an empty net.

FT: Gosfield United FC 5-0 Tiptree Engaine FC Reserves

A fantastic second half display by Gosfield saw them go 11 points clear. Tiptree were very good first half but let me themselves down second half and fell apart after the first goal went in. Gosfield looking good to become champions now with only 7 games left.
