What a difference a week makes!
Alresford Colne Rangers FC lead the Premier Division by one point from Tiptree Heath FC following three wins and two draws and remain the only unbeaten senior side whilst at the other end of the table last season’s First Division champions Flitch United FC are, finding the going tough with four straight defeats leaving them firmly anchored at the bottom.
West Bergholt FC have breathed fresh life into there campaign having started with three defeats, but during the past seven days have climbed out of the basement position gaining four points including a fine home win against White Notley FC, who despite there fine start have now succumbed to two successive defeats.
Its normal service at Bromley Road where Gas Recreation FC have recovered from their shock heavy defeat at home to Hatfield Peverel FC by attaining a good 3-1 win at Brantham Leisure Centre leaving Brantham Athletic FC Reserves struggling again to make an impression.
In Division One, Cressing United FC are making the early running with three wins including an impressive victory over much fancied Sudbury Sports FC. Meanwhile Tiptree Jobserve FC have won both their opening matches accumulating 15 goals on the way. Stanway Pegasus FC Reserves have announced there credentials in support of there senior side’s good start in the premier. The Reserves have won there opening three games and are second to the leaders on goal difference.
Both Colne Athletic FC and newcomers Stanway Rovers FC Reserves have made confident starts and appear to be the likely challengers in the months ahead.
In Division Two, after a sometimes, turbulent season last term, great to acknowledge the strides made by Shrub End United FC who currently sit proudly at the top of the division following their opening three wins.
In contrast Gas Recreation FC Reserves relegated last season again appear to be struggling with three opening losses.
Its most encouraging to note that Brantham Athletic FC “A” have made a decent start with four points from three games following their relegation last season. It was a notable win against promoted Dedham Old Boys FC Reserves that should enhance confidence for this young side.
Newcomers Stanway Athletic FC have given notice in Division Three to lead with an opening six points from two games that included a crushing 11-0, win Saturday at home to Elmden Rovers FC Reserves where the scoring fete of the day came from Isaac Lewis who helped himself to a six goal, spree.
But perhaps Bradfield Rovers FC success over Boxted Lodgers FC Reserves deserves the plaudits. Often the whipping boys of Division Three, their 8-4 victory must surely have been toasted in the Club House and provided a tonic for the weeks ahead. Ironically they trailed 2-3 at the break! What was in the interval cup of tea?
It’s worth recording that the Rovers goals were scored by Jack Birch (2), Joshua Moore, Dan Goodman, Joshua Pizzey and a fine hat trick from Michael Boswell the total of which represented approximately one third of the number of goals scored all last season. Watch this space! Good luck guys.
Talking of goals no fewer than 132 were scored in the twenty-five matches played, that over 5 per matches last Saturday.
