04/12/2021 – Results Round-Up
Essex & Suffolk Border League Round Up 4th December 2021.
There was no change at the top of the Premier Division with the leading three sides all gaining maximum points.
The Stanway Pegasus FC juggernaut rolls on albeit a tight 3-2 victory at Braintree where Craig Minter and a brace from Elliott Aves saw off Dunmow Town FC in a fine match.
Eight points adrift are second place Chelmsford City FC Reserves who beat Earls Colne FC 2-0 at the Recreation Ground. Luke Deslandes was the match winner with a couple of goals whilst the home side contrived to miss a penalty and several good chances.
Also. in third place sharing 44 points with ‘City’ and eight points behind the leader are West Bergholt FC who in a competitive match beat Tiptree Heath FC 3-2 at Tolleshunt Village Hall. This was a competitive game that produced a five-goal thriller.
Joe Chester and Cameron Ward were the home marksmen, but Karl Andrade the division’s leading scorer with 18 goals, Aston Firkins and Reece Keating rescued the visitors.
Fourth placed Alresford Colne Rangers FC lost ground at Oak Farm where White Notley FC won in another thriller winning 4-3 and move up to seventh place.
Dedham Old Boys FC eased their position in the lower reaches with a fine 3-2 success over visiting Hatfield Peverel FC, whilst bottom side Lawford Lads secured a creditable point at School Lane against Barnston AFC in a 1-1 draw. Oliver Mann scored the home goal, whilst Shane Pyne replied for the visitors
In the Knock – Out Cup, Premier Division Colne Athletic FC easily progressed to the third round with a resounding win over third division Sporting Rebels FC 5-2.
There were only four games in the First Division that saw leaders Stanway Rovers FC U 23s score a narrow 1-0 win at Coggeshall United FC Reserves to make it ten wins from their opening twelve matches. Previous second placed Belle Vue Social FC did not play allowing Silver End United FC to leapfrog them into second place with a fine 5-1 win at home against Harwich & Parkeston FC Reserves. They are now a point behind the leaders but have played four games more.
Elsewhere Cressing United FC beat visiting Cavendish United FC 2-1 and West Bergholt FC Reserves defeated bottom side Alresford Colne Rangers FC Reserves with the same score.
Division Two leaders, Brightlingsea Town FC continued their march to the title with another comfortable victory this time at Hatfield Peverel FC Reserves winning 3-0 with Ricky Griggs and Conrad Baker amongst the goals. Their record is now ten wins from ten games and have an almost unassailable lead from second place Thorpe Athletic FC, five points clear and having three games in hand.
Lawford Lads FC Reserves fortunes changed when having conceded seventeen goals the previous week, finally won their first league game winning 3-2 at St Osyth FC, a very commendable performance, but remain anchored at the bottom of the table.
Kelvedon Social FC remain in third place following their 2-0 win at The Chase against Rowhedge FC, just a point behind Thorpe Athletic FC.
Struggling Hedinghams United FC got the better of fellow strugglers Tollesbury FC with a 3-2 win, and mid table Great Bentley FC won on The Green against Frinton & Walton FC 4-2.
In Division Three, Joel Barton hit three and Elliot Lamb struck a fourth for the leaders Wormingford Wanderers FC who beat Brantham Athletic FC ‘A’ 4-0 to consolidate their position at the helm. They too have a commendable 100% record and hold a two-point lead over Dovercourt Rovers with three games in hand.
As for ’Rovers’ they made the long trip to Barnston AFC Reserves and returned with the points in a 3-2 victory. The home scorers were Edward Armitage and Jamie Mclaughlin.
