11/12/2021 – Results Round-Up

Essex & Suffolk Border League Round – Up 11^th December 2021.

There were only two Premier League matches due to the League Knock Out cup ties.

Therefore, there was little material change to the table.

Alresford Colne Rangers FC won 3-2 at Ford Lane against visiting Dedham Old Boys FC and are now six points adrift of third place West Bergholt FC. There were two goals from Ryan Lewis and a third from substitute Conor Murphy.

After a pitch inspection the game at Earls Colne FC went ahead, but there was disappointment for the home side as Colne Athletic FC comfortably won 4-1 to consolidate their fifth position trailing ‘Bergholt’ by four points with two games in hand. The home scorer was Jamie Hudson whilst the away goals included a brace from Dale Brown and one each for Joe Hawkins and Daniel Price.

In Division One there was just one match featuring Tiptree Jobserve FC who defeated FC Clacton Reserves 3-1 at Shrub End Sports Ground to move within two points of second placed Silver End United FC. Mario Andrew, Mathew Griffin and Ben Williamson were the marksmen.

Again, in Division Two only two matches played that saw Great Bentley FC climb to third in the table on The Green, where they overcame Tollesbury FC 3-1 to move a point behind second placed Thorpe Athletic FC. Also St. Osyth FC beat visiting Boxted Lodgers 3-2.

In Division Three there were two mid-table clashes that saw Tavern FC defeat Ramsey & Mistley FC 3-1 and Colne Athletic FC Reserves defeat struggling Sporting Rebels FC 3-2.

In Division Four, Abbey Fields FC moved into third place with a 2-0 win at Mersea Island FC Reserves and FC Clacton ‘A’ came out 6-4 winners at Stillwaters FC. The only other game saw Langham Lodgers FC comfortably beat Kelvedon Social FC Reserves 7-0.

In Division Five, leaders Roman Rovers FC lost their unbeaten tag going down to visiting Wormingford Wanderers FC Reserves 2-1 but remain six points clear of Great Bradfords FC who won 9-0 at Tollesbury FC Reserves.

In the Knock-Out Cup there was little giant killing acts, but plenty of predictability.

Dunmow Town FC thrashed Mersea Island FC 10-1 whilst Chelmsford City FC Reserves in the-all Premier clash beat White Notley FC 3-1.

Stanway Pegasus FC were given a half time fright by visiting Prettygate AFC who held the Premier leaders to a goal less first 45 minutes but then ran riot striking seven second half goals.

Stanway Rovers FC U23s overcame a difficult tie away to Brightlingsea Town FC winning by the closest of margins 2-1 with Ricky Griggs the home scorer, but no such problems for West Bergholt FC who beat visiting Flitch United FC 4-1 with goals from Reece Keating, Henry Clarke and two from Lewis Blanchett.

Kelvedon Social FC came out on top of Harwich & Parkeston FC Reserves 9-8 on penalties after drawing 1-1 in normal time, and Rowhedge FC progressed beating Hedinghams United FC, 2-1 with goals from Luke Payne and Scott Thomas.

Elsewhere Belle Vue Social FC moved into the next round defeating Gosfield United FC and Cressing United FC were 3-1 winners against Thorpe Athletic FC.

Finally, in the KO Cup Cavendish FC were successful against visiting Dovercourt Rovers FC with the solitary goal from Luke Simpson.

In the Suffolk, Senior Cup, Sudbury Sports FC were surprisingly heavily defeated by Suffolk & Ipswich league side East Bergholt FC 5-0.
