02/04/2022 – Results Round Up 

Essex & Suffolk Border League Round Up 2nd April 2022.

As the season enters its final phase, some of the Divisions have been decided in terms of Champions and Runners Up, but there remain intriguing outcomes for the First Division, the Fourth and Fifth. Also Cup Finals are beckoning.

Firstly it’s good luck to Belle Vue Social FC who on Wednesday 6th April contest the Essex Junior Cup Final against Catholic United FC Reserves at Concord Rangers Ground KO 7.30pm.

Also, a note for the diary – The Border League Reserve Cup Final will take place on Good Friday, 15th April between West Bergholt Reserves and Brantham Athletic ‘A’ at Little Oakley FC, KO 11.00 am.

In Division Two unbeaten Brightlingsea Town FC have had significant success, and with four games to play will deservedly move forward next season to the First Division.

Meanwhile Wormingford Wanderers FC will take the Third Division title if they take a point from one of their last six matches with Dovercourt Rovers FC virtually assured of second spot.

In Division Four, Great Bentley FC Reserves are declared champions, and with one further point for Gas Recreation FC Reserves they will beat Abbey Fields FC into second position.

In the Fifth Division, Roman Rovers FC have tied up the top spot whilst High Roding FC and Great Bradfords FC will battle it out for runners up, the teams have still to meet.

In the First Division it would seem that both Stanway Rovers FC U23s and Cressing United FC will fight it out for top spot with ‘Rovers’ looking the more likely to be declared champions in the chase for the top.

In the Premier Division there is in no doubt as Stanway Pegasus FC march on to the coveted title following a magnificent season, and will mathematically wrap up the title shortly with West Bergholt FC already assured of the runners spot.

Indeed “Stanway” proved far too strong for Dedham Old Boys FC with an 8-1 victory that sees them six points clear of ‘Bergholt’ who were surprisingly beaten at home by Dunmow Town FC.

Meanwhile Brantham Athletic FC Reserves successful season continues as they move into fifth place with a fine 3-2 win over visiting Barnston AFC whose scorers were Daniel O’Brien and Shane Pyne.

There was fine point gained by travelling Earls Colne FC at Tiptree Heath FC. The home scorer was Ryan Knill-Jones whilst Jack Charnock replied for the visitor’s who remain in a creditable fourth spot.
Sudbury Sports FC have endured a disappointing season, but won by the solitary goal at home to Lawford Lads FC. At Bromley Road, Colne Athletic FC were too strong for Gas Recreation FC winning 6-1 where Brooklyn Maiden scored the home goal.

In Division One, Stanway Rovers FC U23s had a resounding win at Mersea Island FC to make them clear favourites to take the title. They are in second place two points behind leaders Silver End United FC who did not play, and with three games in hand. Harry Thomas hit four goals whilst Max Gray and Thomas Lewis each struck twice and Lewis Theobald completed the rout. Alresford Colne Rangers FC Reserves comfortably beat Stanway Pegasus FC Reserves 4-0 at Ford Lane where Ryan Lewis helped himself to a hat trick and Kester Anumba hit the fourth. Cressing United FC kept their title hopes alive with a 2-0 win at Gosfield United FC with goals from Craig Copas and Daniel Miller. Cavendish FC were 5-2 winners at home to FC Clacton Reserves where Harrison Childs got a brace and Jack Hubbard, Ryan McNicholas and Haydn Taylor each added to the final score. Rafferty Jordon struck the Clacton goals.
