Essex & Suffolk Border League 26th March 2022.
Tiptree Heath FC comfortably knocked out the holders Colne Athletic FC in the League KO Cup 5-0 at Strangers Corner to progress to the Semi Final stage. Morley Dialu struck twice, and Benjamin Turner and Cameron Ward and a Charlie Green penalty completed the scoring.
Stanway Pegasus FC also reached the latter stages with a convincing 7-1 victory over visiting Barnston AFC with the League and Cup double beckoning. Max Booth scored a fine hat trick and Josh Dillon got a brace with Dean Ager and Callum Griffith adding to the tally.
In the Premier Division, Cameron Harper and Taylor McAndrews were on target for Dedham Old Boys FC in their 2-0 win over Gas Recreation FC at The Drift.
There was also success for visiting Earls Colne FC at Ford Lane who defeated Alresford Colne Rangers FC 3-1 where Ross Debrick struck his 12th goal of the season and a goal each for Jack Charnock and Taylor Hutchinson ensured the three points.
The win put ‘Colne’ into the dizzy heights of 4th place, a position that has not been achieved for many, many years albeit they have played more games than those around them.
At the Memorial Ground, Callum Green scored twice for Little Oakley FC Reserves who were held 2-2 by Sudbury Sports FC where both goals came from Benjamin Monteith-Wood.
Elsewhere Dunmow Town FC comfortably beat White Notley FC at Oak Farm winning 3-1 and Hatfield Peverel FC took both points at School Lane against Lawford Lads FC who have been relegated to the bottom of the table following the withdrawal of Felixstowe & Walton U23s. Tom White’s goal secured the points.
In Division One there was a crucial 3-2 win for Cressing United FC inflicting another defeat on the once certain promotion hopefuls Belle Vue Social FC who are enduring a wretched end of season run-in, apart from their pending Essex Junior Cup Final. Sam Cripps and Joseph Davies goals were not enough for Belle Vue. The Cressing goals were scored by Luke Bearman and Sean Goode.
At the Austin Arena there was an exciting match where FC Clacton Reserves briefly halted Stanway Rovers FC U23s timely run to the potential title with a 3-3 draw. Andreas Antoniou-Garcia, Lyndon Bramhall and Kieran Wales were on target of the home side, whilst a Thomas Lewis brace and a Harry Thomas reply ensured the point for the visitors.
Tiptree Jobserve FC narrowly beat Stanway Pegasus FC Reserves 2-1 and West Bergholt FC Reserves drew with Gosfield United FC 1-1 where substitute Toby Moore replied to Henry Clarke’s opener. (see full match report on “web-site”) In the remaining match Coggeshall United FC Reserves beat Mersea Island FC at the Glebe with a solitary goal.
There were no Division Two matches played, but there were some Tommy Thompson cup ties that saw Hedinghams United FC, Sporting Rebels FC, Ramsey & Mistley FC, Flitch United FC, Great Bentley FC, Tiptree Jobserve FC Reserves, Wormingford Wanderers FC, and Brightlingsea Town FC progress.
The pick of these ties included Great Bentley’s win at Hatfield Peverell Reserves with goals from Kurt Firkins and Jake Vaughan, and an easy passage through for Brightlingsea Town 5-0 at Prettygate AFC. Ricky Griggs scored twice, and substitute Luke Drysdale hit two late goals with Ashley Sauka completing the scoring.
In Division Three in the mid-week top of the table clash, Wormingford Wanderers FC were held to a 2-2 draw at home to Tavern FC. ‘Wanderers’ goals came from Ben and Joe Fowler whilst namesake Ben Fowler and Jared Richter replied for the visitors.
