There were more mid-week matches last week, on Tuesday, Boxted Lodgers beat Wivenhoe United by five goals to three, the teams are now level on points in Division Three.

Wednesday had six matches, in the Premier Division, Thorpe Athletic, unbeaten in their last fifteen games, went nap against Alresford Colne Rangers and having completed their fixtures sit top of the table with sixty-seven points. Great Bentley moved up to second with sixty-one points, after beating Dedham Old Boys by three goals to one, they have two matches remaining! Bradfield Rovers, for whom Allington scored his fortieth goal of the season, were awarded the Division Two Champions trophy by League Treasurer, Brian Reed, this after drawing their penultimate match against West Bergholt, the only team to have beaten them in the league this season! Division Four had three matches, Frinton & Walton Reserves scored their one hundredth goal of the season when beating Stanway Rovers EVL Development, Wormingford Wanderers Reserves drew, one apiece, with Prettygate Reserves and the surprise result was Rayne denting Hedinghams United Reserves aspirations for second place by winning by the odd goal in five.

In a match played on Friday evening at Coggeshall Town FC, with a crowd of two hundred and sixty-one, Hatfield Peverel FC Reserves beat Hedinghams United FC by a single goal in the final of The Peter Andrews Charity Cup.

On the same evening, Cavendish FC lost out to Laxfield FC in the final of the Suffolk Primary Cup, played at Needham Market FC, as with the scores level at the end of normal time, Laxfield won two-one on penalties.

Staying on the cup theme, on Saturday there were two semi-final ties in the Richard Degville Cup, Great Bentley “A” beat Boxted Lodgers by three goals to nil to set up next Saturdays final against Mersea Island who beat Frinton & Walton Reserves on penalties after the tie was level at normal full-time.

There were two matches in the Premier Division, Hatfield Peverel (three for Arnold), as expected beat bottom team Alresford Colne Rangers by five goals to two and in a precursor for the Knock-Out Cup final to be played on 15^th May, Great Bentley beat Cressing United by three goals to one and now need to win their last game to win the title, on goal difference from Thorpe Athletic.

Another surprising scoreline was the seven goals to one victory for tenth placed Oyster over Harwich & Parkeston “A” who have ended their season in third place after promotion last year.

Division Four had three matches, mid-table Wormingford Wanderers Reserves drew two apiece, with Bradfield Rover Reserves, again, there were two surprise results, as third bottom Tendring District (three for Laidler), beat Rayne by seven goals to four and bottom team Elmstead Market Reserves managed a two-goals to one victory, to do the double over Tollesbury.
