WEEKLY ROUND UP @ 25/04/2026.
Mid-week matches started last week, in Division Two, second bottom, Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves surprised fifth placed West Bergholt scoring five without reply, second placed Silver End United scored five (three for Sopowski) against bottom team Great Bradfords. Division Three champions Tiptree Jobserve were humbled by fourth placed Mersea Island by four goals to one. Division Four had four matches, top team, Frinton & Walton Reserves went nap (they have now scored ninety-eight goals), against Elmstead Market Reserves who hit the hundred mark themselves, goals against, that is! Rayne are making a strong finish and now sit fourth after beating Kelvedon Social, scoring seven, Tollesbury beat Prettygate Reserves and third placed Hedinghams United Reserves kept tabs on a promotion spot when beating Wormingford Wanderers Reserves.
In the Premier Division, the top four teams all won, making the final permutations for picking a champion wide open to the final matches, fourth placed Hatfield Peverel beat fifth placed Sudbury Sports by two goals to one. Third placed, Great Bentley (58pts) with three games left, boosted their chances when beating Gas Recreation by eight goals (three for Brown), to nil, second placed East Thurrock Community (60pts) with two matches remaining beat bottom team Alresford Colne Rangers by three goals to nil and leaders Thorpe Athletic (64pts) beat Cressing United by the odd goal in three, they have one game left.
The last two remaining matches were played in Division One, in the local derby Frinton & Walton beat Clacton Regent by the only goal scored and Hatfield Peverel Reserves beat Hedinghams United by four goals to one, these teams meet again on Friday evening in the Peter Andrews Charity Cup final being played at Coggeshall Town FC.
There was one match in Division Two, Gas Recreation Reserves (three for Maiden), scored as many goals as their first team conceded when beating rock bottom Great Bradfords, these goals might prove crucial as they now sit one point behind Silver End United with a game in hand.
One match was played in Division Three, Silver End United Reserves scored three to the two scored by Oyster.
Hedinghams United Reserves (three for Fenton-Jones) kept up their promotion push with a five goals, to one victory over Elmstead Market Reserves, they now sit three points behind Roman Rovers “A” with three games in hand, the other match saw Wormingford Wanderers Reserves beat Rayne by the odd goal in seven.
There were two quarter-final matches in the Richard Degville Cup, Great Bentley “A” beat Harwich & Parkeston “A” by three goals to one, they will play Boxted Lodgers in the semi-final after Boxted Lodgers despatched Tollesbury by five goals to two. The other semi-final will be between Mersea Island and Frinton & Walton Reserves.
The final will be played on Saturday 9th May 2026 at Harwich & Parkeston FC, KO: 15:00pm.
The Tommy Thompson Cup had one quarter final tie which saw Cavendish beat West Bergholt and they will play Boxted Lodgers in the semi-final, the winners will play Bradfield Rovers who secured their place in the final after beating Springfield Reserves by two goals to nil.
The final will be played on Saturday 23rd May 2026 at Coggeshall Town FC, KO: 15:00pm.
