05/03/2022 – Results Round Up
Essex & Suffolk Border League Round Up 5th March 2022.
It was a rain affected program Saturday, but there was some progress in the League Knock – Out Cup, but no surprises. The results largely went to form with the Premier clubs advancing to the latter stages of the competition.
Belle Vue Social FC’s cup exploits came to an end at Tiptree Heath FC. The Essex Junior Cup finalists found the home side too strong but put up a great fight before going down 2-0 where Cameron Ward scored his 14th goal of the season with Kieran Michaels completing the scoring. Chelmsford City FC Reserves just edged out Barnston AFC by the odd goal of three. Dominic Forbes and Samuel Wade did the damage whilst the visitor’s reply came from Michael Morgan.
Colne Athletic FC proved too strong for First Division, Tiptree Jobserve FC who were beaten 3-1. Second Division, Kelvedon Social FC bowed at ‘The Chase’ where high riding Premier side West Bergholt FC comfortably overcame the spirited home side with a comfortable 4-0 win. Jamie Beecham hit two and a goal each for substitute Charles Farthing, and Lewis Blanchett who made it 19 for the season.
Stanway Rovers FC U23s overcame Cressing United FC 3-1 in the, all First Division clash where Harry Thomas got a brace to bring his tally for the season to 28 and Max Sherlock added the third.
Cavendish FC who are struggling in Division One made it through defeating Rowhedge FC from the Second Division 3-1 with Max Doyle, Haydn Taylor and Jake Wood striking the goals, whilst substitute Andrew Stoneley got the consolation for the visitors.
On Tuesday, Little Oakley FC Reserves are scheduled to host Sudbury Sports FC in the KO Cup whilst on Saturday, Dunmow Town FC will try again taking on Premier’ champions elect’ Stanway Pegasus FC at Braintree FC.
There were three Premier league matches that saw Alresford Colne Rangers FC, Brantham Athletic FC Reserves and White Notley FC securing maximum points whilst the scheduled matches at Earls Colne FC and Little Oakley FC were victims of the weather.
‘Rangers’ moved up to 7th place in the table with a success at Ford Lane overcoming Gas Recreation FC 3-1. Jack Johnson hit his 14th goal with Bryant Polius and Michael Runicles completing the scoring, whilst Justin De Souza replied for the visitors.
“Brantham”, rose to eighth place, with a 2-1 win over visiting Hatfield Peverel FC with goals from Aiden Stern and Shaun Webb and White Notley FC comfortably beat Sudbury Sports FC on their travels winning 3-0 where Josh Goodey hit two and one from Regan Farley-Hearn.
In Division One, Silver End United FC have made a late challenge for promotion. At the Village Hall ground they were convincing winners over Alresford Colne Rangers FC Reserves 4-0 where Sam Hollocks starred again with two goals taking his tally to 25 and Joe Borein increased his haul to 15 with Abiola Makanjuola adding the fourth.
A great deal will depend on other sides challenging for a promotion spot. Silver End United FC has one game to play and currently hold a twelve-point lead over third place Stanway Rovers FC U23s who have seven games in hand.
Elsewhere Stanway Pegasus FC Reserves beat visiting FC Clacton Reserves in a thriller at “The School”, 4-3. Max Booth hit a hat trick and Aaron Collier got the fourth for the hosts whilst Clacton’s response saw goals from Lyndon Bramhall, Terrance Kangandu and Jake Perry.
In Division two runaway leaders Brightlingsea Town FC were inactive, but second placed Great Bentley FC secured an important three points at St. Osyth FC winning 5-1 to consolidate their second place in the table. Joseph Hurd led the charge, with his 23rd goal of the season with further goals from Christopher Bowles Kurt Firkins, Connor Jones and Jake Vaughan.
