ESSEX & SUFFOLK BORDER FOOTBALL LEAGUE            2024 / 2025

WEEKLY ROUND UP       @       07/09/2024.

The ESBFL season got properly underway on Saturday with thirty-three matches, no less than one hundred and seventy-six goals were scored, however, nine teams did fail to find the net, but one team hit fourteen.

In the Premier Division there were seven matches, Kings Park Rangers stroll on, winning against Belle Vue Social, Brightlingsea Town kept pace when beating Sudbury Sports, Earls Colne moved up to fourth with Raven scoring all four against White Notley and Hatfield Peverel went one goal better against Alresford Colne Rangers. Stanway Pegasus Reserves made their journey to Corringham worthwhile getting three points from East Thurrock Community, finally Dedham against Barnston and Cressing against Thorpe Athletic all gained a point apiece, for the Old Boys it was their fifth draw of the season, from seven starts!

Division One had six matches, Great Bentley hit six (four for Smith), Cornard United Reserves, five, and Dovercourt Rovers and Gas Recreation both scored four as they both won, Cavendish also won but Little Oakley Reserves and Lawford Lads shared the points.

The highest scoring Division was Division Two, seven matches averaging seven goals, Great Bradfords (three for Moore) and Tavern (three for Richter) scored seven, Earls Colne Reserves hit six (four for Clifford {C}), as did Roman Rovers (three for Burgess) whose opposition Dedham Old Boys Reserves, scored five, having scored and conceded seven goals the week before! Elsewhere Gas Recreation Reserves and Prettygate both won by three goals to two scorelines, finally The Rodings got their first win after two draws’ when overcoming newcomers Cressing United Reserves.

Division Three also had seven matches, Barnston Reserves kept up the seven-goal trend, both Hatfield Peverel Reserves and West Bergholt scored four and there were wins for Great Bentley “A”, Silver End United and Tiptree Jobserve Reserves with Flitch United and Tendring District sharing six goals.

At the bottom, Division Four had six games and forty-two goals, Kelvedon Social led the way with fourteen, (four for Taylor), of the new teams, Tendring Borough hit eight (five for Coyle) and Harwich & Parkeston “A” scored seven (three each for Eades and Smith) and there were successes for Abbey Fields, Roman Rovers Development and Silver End United Reserves.
