ESSEX & SUFFOLK BORDER FOOTBALL LEAGUE            2024 / 2025

WEEKLY ROUND UP       @       31/08/2024.

There were nineteen matches played and plenty of goals (ninety-two) scored last Saturday, four matches saw eight goals, but already every Premier Division team has lost a game in a, Division that could be a tight affair this season.

The six Premier Division matches saw first defeats for Alresford Colne Rangers against Earls Colne and Barnston against Brightlingsea Town, Kings Park Rangers took advantage to move to the top of the table when beating Stanway Pegasus Reserves. Elsewhere Sudbury Sports and Thorpe Athletic won whilst draw specialists Dedham Old Boys, their fourth, shared the points with White Notley. Dedham Old Boys had lost in mid-week against Brightlingsea Town (three for Fosker) who now sit fifth with a game in hand.

What a difference a week makes, in Division One, Gas Recreation were the days leading scorers with seven and moved up from ninth to top place but most of the teams previously above them stood idle! In the same Division there were victories for Cavendish with Hedinghams United and Frinton & Walton sharing four goals.

Division Two also had only three matches, Tavern hit five at Boxford Rovers, who replied with three of their own, the new Reserve teams from Cressing United (three for Miller) and Earls Colne both won.

There were five matches in Division Three, all teams have now played twice, Flitch United, Great Bentley “A”, Hatfield Peverel Reserves (three for Dingli), and Silver End all won but neither Elmstead Market nor Barnston Reserves could find the net, as they drew.

Both matches in Division Four, witnessed eight goals, Mersea Island hit six against Bradfield Rovers Reserves whilst Tollesbury and Abbey Fields scored four apiece

Next Saturday, when more pitches become available, will see the first full Saturday fixture list with thirty-four scheduled fixtures.
