WEEKLY ROUND-UP for 11/02/2023

Tiptree Heath took advantage of Dunmow Town’s inactivity, to not only play their game in hand, but comfortably beat Stanway Rovers U23’s to move to the top of the Premier table.

Elsewhere, home wins for, Belle Vue, Colne Athletic, Dedham Old Boys and Hatfield Peverel, a close away victory for Barnston at second bottom Lawford Lads whilst third bottom, West Bergholt earned a creditable draw, at home, against third placed Earls Colne.

In Division One, Silver End kept up the pressure on inactive Brightlingsea Town going nap against Gosfield United, Stanway Pegasus Reserves edged out Thorpe Athletic to stay one point ahead of Tiptree Jobserve who beat fifth Great Bentley by a single goal. The bottom two teams met with Cavendish scoring eight, three for Tatum, against luckless Holland Reserves are now eight points adrift.

There were five away wins in Division Two, Dovercourt Rovers hit five on the road against Boxted Lodgers, that’s sixteen straight League wins, second placed Tavern overcame Colne Athletic Reserves, with further successes for Wormingford Wanderers, Mersea Island, Hatfield Peverel Reserves and Tiptree Jobserve Reserves.

Bradfield Rovers remain top in Division Three, winning away at Prettygate, fourth placed Flitch overcame Great Bradfords whilst second placed Gas Recreation may rue dropped points away at third placed Great Bentley Reserves, who themselves are having a good season.

High Roding improved their dominance in Division Four, scoring seven away at fourth placed Ramsey & Mistley, three goals there for Burgess. Wormingford Wanderers Reserves won at Hedinghams United Reserves whilst the points were shared in matches between Abbey Fields and Cavendish Reserves, and Tendring District against Kelvedon Social Reserves.

Another team standing idle was Division Five leaders, Gas Recreation Reserves, second placed Oyster hit eighteen goals, four short of the ESBFL record, against rock bottom Ramsey & Mistley Reserves, who must be commended for playing, as there is no shame in losing! Six goals there for Dickson with Cook (C) and Gregoire with five each. In the other two matches Roman Rovers Reserves beat Bradfield Rovers Reserves whilst third placed Boxford Rovers comfortably beat Brooklands FC by six goals to nil. Three more goals here for Egglestone who now has thirty-eight goals from fourteen matches, worth mentioning that four more have been chalked off due to a team withdrawing!

Brantham Athletic “A” won through in the Suffolk Primary Cup and Barnston Reserves beat travelling Frinton & Walton in the COVID Cup.
