WEEKLY ROUND-UP for 18/02/2023

What a topsy-turvy season we are experiencing, Tiptree Heath go top one week then lose unexpectedly at Chelmsford City Reserves allowing Dunmow Town to go back to the top. There were draws for Colne Athletic against White Notley and Earls Colne against Brantham Athletic Reserves. Lawford Lads won on the road at Alresford Colne Rangers and third bottom West Bergholt, three for Clark, beat bottom team Harwich & Parkeston Reserves, three for Stratton, by the odd goal, in seven. Another high scoring game saw Sudbury Sports beat Belle Vue Social by seven goals to two, three for Tower-King here and plenty of cards shown too!

Cressing had the only home win in Division One when beating Thorpe Athletic the other three matches saw away wins for Brightlingsea Town, Stanway Pegasus Reserves and Great Bentley who had Warin scoring three goals.

In Division Two, there were three matches a big win for Boxted Lodgers, Tunn scored three, against Alresford’s struggling second string, they stay third behind Tavern who won on the road at Mersea Island, and Hatfield Peverel Reserves overcame St Osyth.

Division Three saw victories for Frinton & Walton, Sporting Rebels and Dedham Old Boys Reserves with Great Bentley Reserves sharing the points with Prettygate.

High Roding stayed on top of Division Four with a comfortable win at Cavendish Reserves, Tendring District won at home against Ramsey & Mistley, tenth placed Abbey Fields shared eight goals away against bottom team Hedinghams United Reserves. This result allowed Stillwaters to move up one place courtesy of an inspired substitution when Manager, Coker (O) entered play on eighty-five minutes to score the only goal three minutes later!

Division Five results were dominated by the demolition of Brooklands by Oyster who had six different scorers in their ten goals, four more for Gregoire this week.

Elsewhere teams were involved in three cup competitions, the FC Clacton Reserves (2) versus Assington Stanley (0) match was abandoned with ten minutes to go, more work for Essex County FA. Wormingford Wanderers edged out Bradfield Rovers in the only Tommy Thompson Cup tie. In the Reserve KO Cup there were wins for Gas Recreation Reserves, Bradfield Rovers Reserves, Tiptree Jobserve Reserves, Dovercourt Rovers and Kelvedon Social Reserves.
