12/02/2022 – Results Round-Up
Essex & Suffolk Border League Round Up 12th February 2022.
Earls Colne FC secured a fifth successive win to reach the dizzy heights of sixth place in the Premier Division with a win at The Memorial Ground, defeating Little Oakley FC Reserves 2-1. They came from a goal down at half time, but two second half goals from Connor Randall secured the points whilst Victor Branca scored for ’Oakley’. Next up for the blues will be Gas Recreation FC at Green Farm Meadow Saturday.
As for ‘Gas’ they recovered well from the previous week’s drubbing and showed much improvement against Chelmsford City FC Reserves at Bromley Road. It was goalless at half time, but the third placed side struck three times without reply with strikes from Luke Aloysius Deslandes, and a brace from Armani Simba.
West Bergholt FC, remain three points ahead of ‘City’ with a narrow victory at home to Barnston AFC with goals from Jamie Beecham, and Brandon Leslie.
However, at the helm remains Stanway Pegasus FC who were made to fight against visiting Hatfield Peverel FC winning by the slender margin of 2-1. Kane Elliott and Max Booth were on target. Their lead remains six points clear of ‘Bergholt’ with games in hand.
Fourth placed Colne Athletic FC travelled to Dellwood Avenue where bottom side Felixstowe & Walton FC U23s competed well losing by the odd goal in three, where Kurt Warren scored the consolation goal. (A full match report is on the web-site). The seasiders are two points behind Lawford Lads FC who picked up a creditable 1-1 draw at Tiptree Heath FC where Jack Allam scored for the ‘Lads’.
In the first Division, Silver End United FC remain top with an important win away to Belle Vue Social FC by courtesy of goals from Joe Borein, and substitute Jack Vidler. ‘Social’ nevertheless have games a plenty in hand and remain in fourth position.
Second placed Tiptree Jobserve FC enjoyed a slender 2-1 home win against Alresford Colne Rangers FC Reserves whose goal was scored by Lewis Stantiall.
There was a welcome surprise 2-1 win for Mersea Island FC against FC Clacton Reserves, only their second three pointer of the season. Luke Hawkins and William Stock got the goals, whilst Ben O’Hara replied for the visitors.
Harry Pinkney scored twice for Coggeshall United FC Reserves that sunk Stanway Pegasus FC Reserves where Jack Balaam got the solitary goal.
In the Second Division it was business as usual as Brightlingsea Town FC consolidated their top spot with a strong performance that saw off Boxted Lodgers FC 6-1. Keiron Baker hit a hat trick whilst single goals for Conrad Baker, Ricky Griggs and Ashley Sauka completed a satisfactory afternoon at Strangers Corner,
Second place Thorpe Athletic FC were held at Hatfield Peverel FC Reserves 1-1, but Great Bentley FC went on the rampage with a 6-0 thumping of Hedinghams United FC to move a point behind “Thorpe” with two games in hand. The ‘Bentley scorers were Connor Jones with a hat trick, a brace form Aaron Clifton, and with Toby Britton completing the scoring.
Rowhedge FC shared six goals with visitors Tiptree Jobserve FC Reserves. The home side were well served by two goals from Andrew Stoneley, and one from Daniel Williams.
Fourth place Frinton & Walton FC earned a 1-0 success at home to Kelvedon Social FC where Mitchell Payne’s strike secured the points.
Third Division leaders Dovercourt Rovers FC beat basement Sporting Rebels FC 5-1, whilst second place Wormingford Wanderers FC were held at Eastcliff against Tavern FC 2-2. For “Wanderers” these were the first dropped points of the season, and are three points off the leaders, but with five games in hand. Elliott Lamb secured both goals for the visitors.
