Great Bentley moved back to the summit of the Premier Division when beating Tiptree Heath by three goals to nil, second placed Sudbury Sports went down by two goals to one against Thorpe Athletic who stay fourth. Earls Colne (2) were another home team to win, this over Hatfield Peverel (1) and they change places in the table, away wins were recorded by Gas Recreation (4) over Alresford Colne Rangers (2), AFC Pegasus Colchester (2) over Dedham Old Boys (0) and Cressing United (2) over White Notley (1) who stay second bottom.

There were three matches in Division One, top team, relentless, Gosfield United, who have won their last fifteen league matches, beat Hedinghams United on the road by two goals to one, to move eleven points clear, there was a welcome win for Roman Rovers, this over Lawford Lads, but fourth placed Prettygate could only draw with ninth placed Frinton & Walton.

Division Two also had three matches and all three winners won by four goals to one, second placed Silver End United beat Wormingford Wanderers, at the bottom White Notley Reserves beat Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves, and fourth placed West Bergholt were beaten by fifth placed Cavendish.

Four matches were played in Division Three and twenty-four goals were scored, Mersea Island hit six against the two in reply from bottom team, Brooklands, Tiptree Jobserve stay top after beating Roman Rovers Reserves by three goals to two, Great Bentley “A” move up to second after they beat Elmstead Market by four goals to one whilst Stillwaters and Boxted Lodgers shared six goals.

There were plenty of goals in the six matches in Division Four, top team, Frinton & Walton Reserves beat Bradfield Rovers Reserves by four goals to one, second placed Roman Rovers “A” were held to a scoreless draw by improving Rayne, Ramsey & Mistley were held at one apiece by Tendring District but Kelvedon Social scored seven without reply against Stanway Rovers EVL Development to move up to fourth place. Prettygate Reserves beat West Bergholt Reserves by three goals to nil to move up to a commendable sixth place and finally Wormingford Wanderers Reserves (three for Bacon), got the better of Tollesbury by three goals to one.

There was almost a shock in the Knock-Out Cup, as with the scores level at full time, Premier Division, East Thurrock Community eventually won three-two on spot kicks, over Division One, The Rodings & Little Waltham, the victors will play Springfield in the quarter finals.

The second finalist for the Reserve Knock-Out Cup was decided this week, this after last week’s match was abandoned due to a player injury, Silver End United Reserves edging out Hedinghams United Reserves by the odd goal in three, they will play Great Bentley Reserves in the final, date and venue to be decided.

In the Peter Andrews Charity Cup, Hatfield Peverel Reserves beat Dovercourt Rovers by three goals to one to reach the final, they will play the winners of the match between Clacton Regent and Hedinghams United.

There were two matches in the Tommy Thompson Cup, the second-round tie saw Harwich & Parkeston “A” beat Boxford Rovers by five goals to two and in a third-round tie, Springfield beat Wivenhoe United by five goals to nil.
