ESSEX & SUFFOLK BORDER FOOTBALL LEAGUE            2024 / 2025

WEEKLY ROUND UP       @       16/11/2024.

The Premier Division had a full league programme, there were victories for Cressing United, Kings Park Rangers, Thorpe Athletic, Tiptree Heath whilst there were three drawn matches, Brightlingsea Town at home to local rivals, Alresford Colne Rangers, Sudbury Sports at home to Hatfield Peverel and White Notley against Earls Colne. What these results mean is that Kings Park Rangers (36) go top, thereafter Brightlingsea Town (35), Thorpe Athletic (33), Cressing United (32) then Earls Colne (29). At the bottom, Tiptree Heath beat Belle Vue Social and are now within touching distance to the three teams above them.

Division One  had six matches, the top five teams are only separated by four points, the match of the day was at Bromley Road, unbeaten Gas Recreation having been ahead at half-time, then came from behind to draw with Dovercourt Rovers, excellent game of football that was too, with a couple of superb goals. That draw allowed Lawford Lads, who lost their first match of the season, then drew the second but have now won six league games in a row, they beat Hedinghams United to go third, Frinton & Walton surprised fourth placed Little Oakley Reserves, coming from behind to win by four goals to three. Elsewhere Gosfield United hit five (three for Rusu) against Tiptree Jobserve to stay fifth, bottom team Cornard United Reserves won only their second game beating Bradfield Rovers, meaning Cavendish drop to bottom spot after losing to sixth paced Great Bentley.

Second bottom, Boxford Rovers beat mid-table Roman Rovers, and leaders, The Rodings, beat Stillwaters in Division Two, the other match was goal-less affair between the Reserve teams of Dedham Old Boys and Gas Recreation.

There were four matches in Division Three, Barnston Reserves were held by Roman Rovers Reserves, likewise Silver End United were held by Oyster, the winners were league leaders Hatfield Peverel Reserves and third placed West Bergholt (three for Clarke).

Division Four had a full programme, seven matches, Abbey Fields, Boxted Lodgers Reserves, Brooklands, Harwich & Parkeston “A” (three for Eade), Hedinghams United Reserves, Silver End United Reserves all won with a welcome point for Tollesbury against Roman Rovers “A”. Unbeaten Silver End United Reserves (30) stay top from Harwich & Parkeston “A” on goal difference, both have won ten from ten.

This week was Essex Junior Cup week, in the regionalised draw twelve teams were in action, where there were victories for Cressing United Reserves, Earls Colne Reserves, Prettygate, Tavern, White Notley Reserves and Wormingford Wanderers Reserves, another match was abandoned!

In the Essex Junior Trophy, Tendring Borough beat Witham Town Reserves.

Finally, in the Suffolk Primary Cup, Assington Stanley lost out to AFC Kesgrave Reserves.
