Congratulations go to Great Bradfords FC who, at the eighteenth attempt managed to win a league game in Division Two, this was away against second bottom Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves and that win has narrowed the gap to just one point.

The big matches on Saturday were in the Knock-Out Cup, when two semi-finals were held, in the all Premier Division match, Great Bentley beat East Thurrock Community by two goals to one, in front of a crowd estimated to be three hundred and fifty. They will play Premier Division, Cressing United FC, for whom it will be first ever cup-final, they beat Division Two, West Bergholt by six goals to one.

There were three league matches in the Premier Division, leaders, Thorpe Athletic made it thirteen league matches without defeat when beating Tiptree Heath. The two other matches had plenty of goals, Hatfield Peverel (three for Arnold), moved up to fifth when beating AFC Pegasus Colchester by five goals to one, Springfield also scored five without any reply from Dedham Old Boys.

Hatfield Peverel Reserves won the Division One, basement battle when beating Lawford Lads by three goals to nil and Great Bentley Reserves went a goal better, scoring four without reply against Roman Rovers.

Division Three had two other matches, White Notley Reserves scored five (three for Martin), against the one from Wormingford Wanderers and Harwich & Parkeston “A” drew one goal apiece with Elmstead Market.

There were the usual plentiful number of goals in Division Four, in fact, fifteen were scored in three matches, top scorers were Wormingford Wanderers Reserves who scored six when beating bottom team, Elmstead Market Reserves. Hedinghams United Reserves (three for Curry), beat Ramsey & Mistley by three goals to one to stay third and Kelvedon Social won by the same score against Tendring District. Wormingford Wanderers Reserves had also won by a goal to nil in mid-week against Ramsey & Mistley.

There was a quarter-final cup tie between two Division Three teams in the Tommy Thompson Cup, Boxted Lodgers stormed into a three-goal lead before Tiptree Jobserve hit back with two of their own. After the match Tiptree Jobserve were awarded the Division Three Champions Cup.

There were also two quarter-final cup ties in the Richard Degville up, Frinton & Walton Reserves beat Oyster by two goals to nil, they will play Mersea Island who beat Rayne by a single goal.
