It was Cup week last Saturday, there were thirteen Knock-Out cup ties and eight Reserve Knock-Out cup ties, there were also six league fixtures and another one played Friday evening.

In the Knock-Out cup, one normally expects the odd upset but with thirteen matches played, only one went to penalties, but plenty of goals were scored as higher ranked teams overcame teams from lower divisions. Premier Division teams, Alresford Colne Rangers {4}, Belle Vue Social {5}, Brightlingsea Town {7}, Dedham Old Boys {8} (three for Tunn), Stanway Pegasus Reserves {4}, Tiptree Heath {6} and White Notley {3} all progressed, as did Dovercourt Rovers, Flitch United, Gas Recreation, (three for Fisher) Lawford Lads and Tendring Borough (three for Edwards) with The Rodings beating Tiptree Jobserve on spot kicks, the latter two matches being won by teams from lower divisions to their opponents.

In the Reserve Knock-Out cup, there were eight ties, holders Dedham Old Boys Reserves {2} were beaten by Gas Recreation Reserves {4}, Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves {3}, Barnston Reserves {3}, Boxted Lodgers Reserves {10} (three for Sage), Earls Colne Reserves {11} (five for Clifford. L), Great Bentley Reserves {6}, Hatfield Peverel Reserves {7} (three for Dingli) and Hedinghams United Reserves {3} all progressed.

Hatfield Peverel and Earls Colne played the only Premier Division match, the away team winning by four goals to nil to move up to second place.

There were just two matches in Division One, Frinton & Walton got their first win of the season when beating Bradfield Rovers by three goals to two, the same scoreline saw Gosfield United get the better of Cornard United Reserves. On Friday evening, Little Oakley Reserves, now fifth, hit five against Hedinghams United who scored three themselves.

There was a local derby in Division Three, with Great Bentley “A” beating Elmstead Market, to go top, elsewhere Tendring District lost at home to Tiptree Jobserve Reserves, who move up to third.

In Division Four, top team, Harwich & Parkeston “A” played mid-table Roman Rovers Development “A” and kept their unbeaten tag, winning by four goals to two.

Premier Division, Sudbury Sports had a fine victory on Friday evening against Thurlow Nunn team, Haverhill Rovers in the Suffolk Senior Cup however on Saturday, in the same competition, Kings Park Rangers played Stowupland Falcons FC but lost four-two on penalties, after being level at ninety minutes.
