ESSEX & SUFFOLK BORDER FOOTBALL LEAGUE            2024 / 2025

WEEKLY ROUND UP       @       28/09/2024.

There were four remaining Knock-Out Cup ties this week, in the, all Premier tie, Barnston beat Sudbury Sports, and in the all Division One tie Little Oakley Reserves prevailed over Hedinghams United, elsewhere Division One, Bradfield Rovers (three for Stratton) edged out Division Four, Harwich & Parkeston “A” and Third Division, Elmstead Market succumbed against Division One, Frinton & Walton.

In the league there were some thumping victories as one hundred and thirty-two goals were scored in the twenty-seven matches, sadly, two further matches were postponed as teams struggled for players and for the same reason Wormingford Wanderers FC “First Team” have withdrawn from Division One.

The Premier Division had six matches, leaders Kings Park Rangers stroll on after beating Dedham Old Boys, away, there were also away wins for White Notley, Brightlingsea Town and East Thurrock whilst Alresford Colne Rangers and Thorpe Athletic, both won at home.

Division One had two matches, at start of play, three unbeaten teams sat on ten points, top team Great Bentley (three for Brown) travelled to third placed Gosfield United, winning by four goals to nil, and Dovercourt Rovers, on nine points played second bottom Tiptree Jobserve, a two-all draw was the result there.

A full complement of fixtures were played, in Division Two, Roman Rovers and Stillwaters won away, Great Bradfords, Prettygate (five for Newcombe), Tavern and The Rodings won at home but Earls Colne Reserves hit nineteen (nine for Clifford {L} and three for Gregory), against struggling Assington Stanley, and that score is not a league record!

Division Three had five games, a rejuvenated Hatfield Peverel Reserve team hit eight without reply, there was another home win at West Bergholt, Roman Rovers Reserves and Tiptree Jobserve Reserves won away (three for Graham) whilst Ramsey & Mistley and Tiptree Heath Reserves shared the points.

Finally, in Division Four, there were seven matches, Abbey Fields, Mersea Island and Silver End United Reserves had narrow wins the latter match saw Tendring Borough lose for the first time, Kelvedon Social hit ten, Hedinghams United Reserves (three for Turner) won on their travels, as did Boxted Lodgers Reserves and Bradfield Rovers Reserves.
