Essex & Suffolk Border League Round Up 22nd January 2022.
Pride of place goes to Belle Vue Social FC and Wormingford Wanderers FC who have both reached the Semi-Final stage of the Essex Junior Cup.
The Division One promotion favourites Belle Vue Social FC overcame fellow Border League side Cressing United FC, 3-1.
Wormingford Wanderers FC meanwhile, a certainty for promotion from Division Three, beat Debden FC from the Cambridge Kershaw Division One A 2-1.
Both sides have home draws in the Quarter Finals –
Wormingford Wanderers FC will host Catholic United FC Reserves, and Belle View Social FC will be at home to Hashtag United FC Development.
The ties are to be played on Saturday 26th February 2022.
There were two Premier Division mid – week games. Little Oakley FC Reserves enjoyed a splendid away win at Dellwood Avenue beating Felixstowe & Walton FC U23s 6-2 where Daniel Rowe hit four with further goals from Lewis Wood and Danny Garrod. For the hosts Caleb Palmer and Tommy Smith struck the consolation goals.
In the other mid week fixture, on Friday evening, Sudbury Sports FC were beaten at home by Hatfield Peverel FC by the only goal of the game scored by Ricky Loveridge.
The Premier Division League action saw goals aplenty at Ford Lane where Alresford Colne Rangers fc beat White Notley FC 8-4. Matt Knight got a brace for the visitors, and it was one each for Andrew Cheek and Peter Falco.
Stanway Pegasus FC predictably enhanced their lofty position with a comfortable win at Dedham Old Boys FC 5-0 where Josh Dillon hit twice, with supporting goals from Dean Ager, Kane Elliott and Craig Minter.
West Bergholt FC moved ahead of Chelmsford City FC Reserves into second position with a 2-0 victory against Felixstowe & Walton FC U23s. Goal machine Karl Andrade struck his 22nd goal of the season and Daniel Keeble got the second, whilst red cards were administered to both Charlie Hayes and Lee Townrow.
As for ‘City’ who are hoping to leave the Border League next season, moving to pastures new, they lost their fifth league match at the Memorial Ground where Little Oakley FC Reserves following up their mid week thrashing of Felixstowe &Walton beating ‘City’ 3-1.
Brantham Athletic FC Reserves had a fine win at home to Dunmow Town FC by a solitary goal, and the completely ‘new look’ Gas Recreation FC side were eclipsed at Bromley Road by travelling Barnston AFC 5-2. The remaining senior game saw a Tiptree Heath FC at Colne Athletic FC winning 3-0.
In the First Division, leaders Stanway Rovers Community FC U23s lost only their second league games in a thriller at the Royal Oak 4-3 against Harwich & Parkeston FC Reserves. Matt Green scored a fine hat trick and a goal from Gary Stanford ensured the points. The Stanway scorers were a brace from Harry Thomas and Thomas Lewis completed the scoring. Tiptree Jobserve FC got the better of second placed Silver End United FC and are now a point behind them in third.
In Division Two it was business as usual as leaders Brightlingsea Town FC made it 14 straight wins to consolidate their promotion credentials with a six-goal haul against visiting Tollesbury FC. Prolific scorers Ricky Griggs and Ashley Sauka were on target with two each and a goal each from Reese Doig and Conrad Baker.
In Division Four Great Bentley FC Reserves are top following a narrow 2-1 win at Bradfield Rovers FC.
