Essex & Suffolk Border League Round Up 15th January 2022.
Dunmow Town FC completed their outstanding Essex Premier Cup tie and joined Stanway Pegasus FC and Tiptree Heath FC in the last eight.
The quarter final draw involving the three Border League sides is:-
Catholic United FC v Stanway Pegasus FC
Tiptree Heath FC v Dunmow Town FC
This means a guaranteed semi final place for at least one of our sides.
Dunmow Town FC triumphed with a 3-1 win over Woodford East FC, securing their place with goals from Stuart Zanone, Jake Buckland and Alex Yearwood.
The ties are due to be played on Saturday the 29th January 2022.
In the Premier Division, Stanway Pegasus FC maintained their fine form with an easy win over Brantham Athletic FC Reserves 6-1 and continue at the top with a six-point lead. Goals from Max Booth, Reife Marangou and braces from Aaron Collier and Josh Dillon ensured their 18th league win.
Chelmsford City FC Reserves won 3-1 at Ford Lane, Alresford, and remain in second position through goals from Alfie Gilby and two from Louie Rodwell.
There was a seven-goal thriller at Barnston AFC who were defeated by visiting Sudbury Sports FC. The home side scored through Jordon Robertson and Michael Morgan, but the points went to the Suffolk side with two from Louie Arnold, Bobby Badham and Benjamin Monteith-Weed. Sudbury moved up to 6th place.
Earls Colne FC beat Hatfield Peverel FC 2-0 to consolidate their mid table place. Max Atkinson and Jamie Hudson were on target.
There was a big win for visiting Dedham Old Boys FC at Oak Farm where White Notley FC were soundly beaten 5-1. The visitors have struggled a little this season but did well against a Notley side that has proved inconsistent. Liam Peters, Chay Robinson, George Vallentyne, John Vitelli and Henry Welham struck the goals.
Another five goals saw West Bergholt FC win against struggling Little Oakley FC Reserves at the Lorkin Daniel Fields and thus remain comfortably in third place. Karl Andrade hit a hat trick and goals from Charlie Hayes and Lee Townrow completed the route.
Lawford Lads FC remain bottom of the table but did well to take a point at School lane in a 1-1 draw with fellow strugglers Felixstowe & Walton FC U23’s who remain in 17th position one point ahead of the Lads who have a game in hand.
In the league cup Tiptree Heath FC progressed with a hard-fought win against visiting Wormingford Wanderers FC where Joe Chester added two more to his seasonal tally plus one from Charlie Green, Kieran Whittaker notched the consolation goal.
In the Essex Junior Cup, fourth round tie, Belle Vue Social FC reached the quarter final stage with a 3-1 home win over Southend Rangers and will now have a trip to Cressing United FC with both clubs looking to reach the Semi Final.
In the First Division, Stanway Rovers FC U23’s stay top with are a resounding win against West Bergholt FC Reserves. Harry Thomas hit three whilst, Max Gray and Max Sherlock were also on target. They remain six points clear of their realistic near challenger Belle Vue Social who have two games in hand.
Second placed, Silver End United FC hit five at home to Cressing United where Joe Borein scored three first half goals with the others from Todd Hollocks and a Dan Gage, penalty. (See Full Match Report)
Antoniou Garcia scored the goals that saw FC Clacton Reserves beat travelling Gosfield United FC, whilst Gary Stanford and Christopher Stratton ensued three points for Harwich & Parkeston FC Reserves against Alresford Colne Rangers FC Reserves in a 2-1 win at the Royal Oak.
