WEEKLY ROUND-UP for 28/01/2023

Whilst Premier Division leaders Dunmow Town took on and beat Division One, Stanway Pegasus Reserves in the KO Cup, second placed Tiptree Heath narrowed the gap and improved their goal difference with a seven goal thumping of struggling West Bergholt, with Whymark scoring three. There were a few surprises at the bottom, Harwich & Parkeston Reserve beat Chelmsford City Reserves, White Notley beat Earls Colne and Dedham Old Boys won away at Sudbury Sports.

Brightlingsea Town stroll on, another victory against Thorpe Athletic, who have played the least games in the division, there were also victories for FC Clacton Reserves, Great Bentley and Tiptree Jobserve who move up to third.

In Division Two, there were wins for Wormingford Wanderers, St Osyth, Hatfield Peverel Reserves and of course Dovercourt Rovers who remain on top, elsewhere Tollesbury celebrated only their second point of the season at home to Alresford Colne Rangers Reserves.

A full programme in Division Three saw five home wins for, Barnston Reserves, Dedham Old Boys Reserves, Gas Recreation, Great Bradfords and Prettygate with table toppers Bradfield Rovers held by Frinton & Walton.

With Roman Rovers idle, High Roding now top Division Four, after a narrow victory over Abbey Fields, Ramsey & Mistley stay third, Tendring District move up to fifth, but a welcome win for Stillwaters who move off the bottom getting their first points in four months.

Five matches were played in Division Five, undefeated leaders Gas Recreation Reserves managed a solitary goal victory at Boxted Reserves, second placed Oyster just edged out third placed Boxford Rovers, Egglestone with three more goals for the losers. Second bottom Assington Stanley had seven goal-scorers including three goals for Munford, against bottom team Ramsey & Mistley Reserves, and Brooklands beat Kelvedon Social “A”.
