Essex & Suffolk Border League Round Up 30th October 2021.
West Bergholt FC are the new leaders in the Premier Division following a comfortable win at Bromley Road defeating Gas Recreation FC 3-1. They have gone two points clear of Chelmsford City FC Reserves who were inactive albeit having played two games more. Goal machine. Karl Andrade hit his 17th of the season, with Lewis Blanchett and Aston Firkins completing the goals for the visitors. Wesley West had opened the scoring for the ‘Gas!
Surprisingly, Stanway Pegasus FC were also without a game, and are in third place trailing by two points from the new leaders, but they do have three games in hand and the teams have yet to meet!
Felixstowe & Walton United FC U23s gained a much needed and welcome three points at Dedham Old Boys FC winning 3-2 with goals from Daniel Horton and Benjamin Pratt to move four points above bottom side Lawford Lads FC and are now only a point away from 16th placed Hatfield Peverel FC.
Dunmow Town FC were held by visiting Brantham Athletic FC Reserves at Cressing Road, and Tiptree Heath FC shared the points at home with Barnston AFC, both results ending 1-1
There was a close fought victory for Alresford Colne Rangers FC at Ford Lane beating Little Oakley FC Reserves 3-2.
In the League Knock-Out Cup at Strangers Corner Colne Athletic FC easily beat Premier side Hatfield Peverel FC 5-0 to move smoothly into Round 2.
Earls Colne FC’s sequence of four victories came to an end when they hosted Lawford Lads FC, although the score at 90 minutes was 2-2, they went out on penalties 3-1.
White Notley FC, as expected easily disposed of Second Division, Tollesbury FC 6-2, and will travel to Chelmsford City FC Reserves in the next round.
Unbeaten Wormingford Wanderers FC from Division Three, travelled to Silver End FC, whereupon they beat the First Division side 4-1, and will now hope to complete another giant killing act at Premier Division, Tiptree Heath FC in Round Two. Joe Barton hit two whilst Ben Fowler and Elliot Lamb completed the success.
The First Division promotion chase continues at pace, new leaders are Stanway Rovers FC U23s who comprehensively beat Harwich & Parkeston FC Reserves, 5-0 at The Hawthorns.
Belle Vue Social FC lost their previously owned top spot when being held at home to Tiptree Jobserve FC, at Mile End Sports Ground. This was their first dropped points, having, won their opening eight matches, and with Stanway Rovers, have 25 points, but the leaders have an 18-goal advantage.
Brightlingsea Town FC narrowly beat second placed Thorpe Athletic FC in the Division Two top of the table clash, at Strangers Corner to move further ahead of their rivals. The 3-2 win made it eight successive victories and they are now five points clear with three games in hand to consolidate their promotion claims. The dependable Keiron Baker hit another two with Adam Drysdale getting the winner.
In Division Three, whilst leaders Wormingford Wanderers FC were in cup action, both Tavern FC and Dovercourt Rovers FC were drawing closer with wins. Tavern FC beat visiting Prettygate AFC 3-2 to go second and Dovercourt Rovers FC retained their third spot with a 2-1 win at Low Road Playing Fields.
There were some Reserve Cup Ties –
Boxted Lodgers FC Reserves from Division four beat Division Two side Lawford Lads FC Reserves 4-2 who will now meet Stanway Pegasus FC Reserves in the Second Round and Hedinghams United FC Reserves from the 5th Division overcame Fourth Division Kelvedon Social FC Reserves and will now travel to Dedham to play the “Old Boys” Reserves.
Brantham Athletic FC ‘A’ narrowly beat Wormingford Wanderers FC Reserves 2-1 to move into the next round where they will meet Barnston AFC Reserves at home.
Tiptree Jobserve FC Reserves, 6th in Division Two overcame 5th Division Mersea Island FC Reserves 2-1 and will now meet Great Bentley FC Reserves.
