Lawford Lads FC have reached last season’s Knock-Out Cup Final with a narrow win over Dedham Old Boys FC for the right to meet Earls Colne FC in the forthcoming showpiece event. A first half goal from Macauley Watson was sufficient to see the ‘Lads’ through to their first final since 2010-11.
In the Premier Division, Gas Recreation FC maintained their good start to the season in the ‘match of the day’ at Ford Lane. In a titanic battle the former champions defeated Alresford Colne Rangers FC with a solitary goal from Shane Goodyear to add to his brace last week.
Meanwhile it’s a perfect start for White Notley FC who in their two opening away matches has found the net eight times. They inflicted a second loss for Hatfield Peverel FC with a convincing 5-3 success at The Keith Bigden Memorial Ground and occupy second place behind ‘Gas’. A hat trick from Kane Dobrowolski and a goal apiece from Rob Cole and Josh Goody laid the foundation to their excellent start to the campaign.
It is also a great start for newly promoted Colne Athletic FC who secured a second half goal from Scott Yearling in the defeat of Flitch United FC 1-0 to occupy third spot in the table.
West Bergholt FC followed up their opening draw with a 2-1 win at Brantham Athletic FC Reserves with goals from Jack Harrington and Perry Newman. Simon Mann replied for a Brantham side, who have lost their three successive opening matches.
There were mixed fortunes for the other newcomers to the Premier Division.
Sudbury Sports FC were engaged in a six-goal thriller away to Earls Colne to earn their first point with the prolific Jake Banyard getting a brace supported by a Samuel Cook strike.
Stanway Pegasus FC were less fortunate losing at Tiptree Heath FC 2-1 whose marksmen were Charlie Green and Ryan Knill-Jones.
As for Felixstowe & Walton United FC Reserves, it has been a baptism of fire following their move from the Thurlow Nunn league. They suffered their third successive defeat against visiting Great Bentley FC to the plush surroundings at Dellwood Avenue. The home side’s goal was scored by Daniel Norman whilst Zac Bloomfield received two yellow cards.
The remaining Premier match saw Little Oakley FC Reserves cruise past luckless basement side Barnston AFC by 6-1. It was a triumph for hat trick man Jamie Eades and goals from Robert Pratt, Theo Sanderson and Franky Selwyn completed the scoring.
In the First Division four teams enjoy 100% records thus far with the early pace setter being Alresford Colne Rangers FC Reserves. It was an eight thriller at Hedinghams United where Rangers won through 5-3 with a brace from Kieran Radford, and one each from Garry Machin, Russell McLean and Robert Czapla. The home side replied with two from Callum Tyler and a third by Liam Lovelock.
FC Clacton Reserves are showing their intent with a second win when visiting Cressing United by 3-1. Their marksmen were Thomas Ayton, Daniel Baldwin, Terrance Kangandu and move into second spot.
Belle Vue Social FC are third placed, winning on the road at Silver End FC by 4-1. However, they might have covered themselves in glory on the pitch, but their attitude to social distancing “allegedly”, left a lot to be desired, in such a manner, that football could soon be halted again, given the alleged disdain and disrespect shown by the Management and supporters to the Silver End Club Officials.
Harwich & Parkeston FC Reserves lead the second division table with their third consecutive success. They beat Harwich Rangers FC 2-1 at Low Road, with goals from Robert Good and Elliot Fay with Nicholas Millen replying.
In Division Three at Birch Park, Wormingford Wanderers FC consolidated at the top with goals from Sam Moss and Liam Whittaker in the defeat of newcomers Abbey Fields FC.
Second placed Barnston AFC Reserves had the outstanding performer of the day, when Ryan Johnson scored six times in the eclipse of Hedinghams United FC Reserves in a 9-0 goal romp. The other scorers were Kyle Johnson, James McLaughlin and Nathan Waterfield.
Gosfield United FC Reserves are the leaders of Division Four following their 4-2 win over visiting FC Clacton “A”. James Anderson hit two and William Drew and Brad Harris completed the scoring. In reply Jake Perry and Mark Trebes hit the target.
Frinton & Walton FC have made a great debut and are second following the 8-0 drubbing of Mersea Island FC Reserves. It was a personal triumph for George Giltinane who struck the target five times and with a brace from Jack Brownsdon and Patrick Dixon the scoring was complete.
All Clubs are reminded to adhere to COVID-19 Regulations and Guidance otherwise the curtailment of this season too, could soon be a possibility.
