Essex & Suffolk Border League Round – Up 19th September 2020.
It has been a momentous week for Premier side Sudbury Sports FC who have reached the Final of the 1919/2020 Suffolk Junior Cup with a resounding 9-0 triumph over Bramford Road Old Boys FC in the semi final, held at Brantham Athletic. Their opponents will be Halesworth Town FC from the Suffolk & Ipswich League.
This was followed up with 5-0 drubbing over visiting Little Oakley FC Reserves on Friday night with goal machine, Jake Banyard finding the net four times, supported by Josh Stokes.
There was also a significant mid week result in Division One that saw Dunmow Town FC eclipse FC Clacton Reserve side 6-0 at the Austin Arena. There is plenty of experience in the newly formed Dunmow side as they seek promotion at the first attempt. There scorers were Daniel Garfinkle, Kirtys Mackenzie and a hat trick from Milos Vakasinovic, whilst a Jake Adams own goal completed the scoring for the visitors.
Dunmow Town FC then followed up on Saturday with a 7-0 blitz of Boxted Lodgers FC to move into third Place in the table.
Premier Division leaders Gas Recreation FC maintained their 100% record with an emphatic 5-2 victory over visiting Colne Athletic FC. A fine performance from Callum Rogers saw him hit four, whilst Aston Firkins struck a fifth. Quentin Daly and Scott Yearling replied, whilst Gas’s Scott Hooper took an early bath!
Down at Oak Farm, second place White Notley FC, were making hay with their third win disposing of basement dwellers Brantham Athletic FC Reserves 5-2. The goals were shared amongst Kane Dobrowolski, Josh Goodey, Robert King, Ryan Schofield and Rory Bone.
Elsewhere there were wins for Hatfield Peverel FC, Dedham Old Boys FC and Great Bentley FC.
Back to Division One, Belle Vue Social FC are the surprise leaders following a 1-0 win at home to Stanway Pegasus FC Reserves, Bruce Poole the scorer. Two points behind are Tiptree Jobserve FC following their narrow 2-1 win over Coggeshall United FC Reserves.
Mersea Island FC moved into fifth place with a resounding 5-1 victory over visiting Stanway Rovers FC Reserves. Their marksmen were Dan Gibbons, Adam Passfield, James Rutter, Ethan Ward and substitute Harrison Westbrook. Dideoluwa Showemimo struck the consolation goal.
In Division Two, Harwich & Parkeston FC Reserves have taken advantage of their mid week clash at The Royal Oak to Lawford Lads FC Reserves where the points were shared. Elliot Fay for Harwich and Harry Parkes were the scorers.
The leaders extended their position Saturday in a close fought game at Hatfield Peverel FC Reserves. A brace from Robert Good and a third from Daniel Roots made it four wins from five.
A competitive battle is emerging in Division Three with the top three each having seven points from their opening three games.
Barnston AFC Reserves are compensating for the current misfortunes of their Premier Division side by leading the table following a 4-2 win over Abbey Fields FC. Substitute Kieran Ralph impacted from the bench to hit two goals, whilst Lee Jarvis-Brown and Ryan Johnson completed the scoring.
Meanwhile at Tolleshunt D’Arcy Village Hall, Kelvedon Social FC were crushing Tiptree Heath FC Reserves 8-1. The scoring was led by Sam Taylor who scored a hat trick whilst Martin Young and the well known Leite de Lima Fazner each scored twice. Cameron Pennick got the home side’s goal.
At Kirby Playing Field, third place Thorpe Athletic FC hit visiting Ramsey & Mistley FC for six. Bailey Barnard claimed a hat trick, Mathew Gray a brace and Kalon Harms made it six. The visitors fought hard and Christopher Stratton can count himself unlucky to be on the losing side bagging four goals
In Division Four, Frinton & Walton FC are the leaders winning their first three matches culminating with a seven goal haul over visiting Tollesbury FC Reserves with goals shared between Jamie Cross, Adam Duce, Benjamin Hartley, Benjamin Dixon and Rio Nicolaou.
