Essex & Suffolk Border League Round Up 13th November 2021.
Stanway Pegasus FC maintained their relentless pursuit of the league championship with another emphatic win, this time beating Earls Colne FC 6-0. Their credentials were further enhanced with the surprising mid week defeat of Chelmsford City FC Reserves at Heybridge by Sudbury Sports FC 3-2.
Stanway’s record shows 43 points from 15 games thus continuing their impressive runaway form.
Chelmsford City FC Reserves, however, are still in second place following their narrow 3-2 win over near neighbours Hatfield Peverel FC with goals from Jordon Sargent, Kenny Mupomba and Luke Deslandes. They trail the leaders by three points having played two games more.
West Bergholt FC kept up their challenge with a 4-1 success over visiting Dedham Old Boys FC. Lewis Blanchett hit two, whilst Michael Schofield and Aston Firkins completed the scoring.
Gas Recreation FC endured their eighth league defeat at the hands of visiting fourth place Alresford Colne Rangers FC. ‘Gas’ scorers were Emmanuel Kouassi and Dominic Walmsley.
Michael Morgan notched the goal that saw Barnston AFC get a point at home to Dunmow Town FC in a 1-1 draw, whilst Tiptree Heath FC had to battle hard to overcome stout resistance from Lawford Lads FC at School Lane. They picked up the points by virtue of a brace from Charlie Green and one from Ryan Knill – Jones to maintain a healthy fifth spot in the table.
Sixth placed Colne Athletic FC had a comfortable win at Strangers Corner over Brantham Athletic FC Reserves 4-0, and White Notley FC won a seven-goal thriller defeating Little Oakley FC Reserves at the Memorial ground 4-3.
In Division One Stanway Rovers FC U23s remain top following a 2-1 win over Stanway Pegasus FC Reserves 2-1, whilst Belle Vue Social FC kept up the pressure in second with a 3-1 win over Cavendish FC. ‘Rovers’ hold a three-point lead having played two games more but,
“Belle Vue” have the advantage and remain unbeaten. Third place Silver End United FC thrashed bottom side away at Alresford Colne Rangers FC Reserves by10-0.
At ‘The Glebe’ struggling Mersea Island FC were also well beaten when entertaining Tiptree Jobserve FC by 9-1.
In Division Two leaders Brightlingsea Town were inactive allowing the chasing pack to draw closer. 2nd place Thorpe Athletic FC beat Hedinghams United FC 5-1, whilst third place Hatfield Peverel FC Reserves beat bottom side Lawford Lads FC Reserves 7-2, and Kelvedon Social FC won at Boxted Lodgers FC 2-0.
In Division Three leaders Wormingford Wanderers FC remain unbeaten beating visiting Ramsey & Mistley FC by 4-3 and second place Dovercourt Rovers FC maintained their pursuit with a comfortable win at Dedham Old Boys FC Reserves 4-1. Both sides have 21 points but ‘Rovers’ have played two games more.
Prettygate AFC lead the chasing pack in third place having comfortably beaten Sporting Rebels FC at Shrub End Sports Ground 6-0, their goal scorers being a hat trick from Robert Czapla, two from Frankie Beedon, and Brandon Lam completed the scoring.
Elsewhere Barnston AFC Reserves won away to Tavern FC 3-2 through goals from Ryan Johnson, Nathan Waterfield, and Mathew Wickham.
In Division Four, leaders Bradfield Rovers FC lost at Great Bentley FC Reserves who now join them at the top with 16 points but have two games in hand. Equally, third placed Ramsey & Mistley FC Reserves maintain their challenge with a 3-2 win at Furze Hill over FC Clacton ‘A’. Jimmy Morrison, Azeez Saliu and Gary Stanford scored the home goals, whilst for the visitors Tommy–Lee Coyle and Charlie Green replied.
Division Five leaders Roman Rovers FC 100% record remains intact following their narrow 1-0 win over previously unbeaten Frinton & Walton FC Reserves at Philip Morant School, The league’s, leading goal-scorer Connor Oughton scored his 24th goal of the season from just nine games.
