18/12/2021 – Results Round-Up
Essex & Suffolk Border League Round Up 18th December 2021.
There were a couple of mid-week Premier matches that saw Chelmsford City FC Reserves beat Colne Athletic FC and Sudbury Sports FC defeat Tiptree Heath FC.
Also, in the League Knock – Out Cup Little Oakley FC Reserves moved into the next round having comfortably beaten Frinton & Walton FC. (Full match report on web-site)
On Saturday the League made the decision to allow Clubs the option of playing their scheduled matches or to call games off, without penalty, due to COVID, and therefore not to derail the Christmas celebrations of players and their families, due to the potential of increased infections.
Referring back to the matches played prior to Saturday, “Chelmsford” secured their 15th win of the season with goals from Alfie Gilbey who scored a hat trick in a 3-1 win against Colne Athletic FC whose scorer was Keelan Milburn.
Sudbury Sports FC up and down season saw them beat Tiptree Heath FC 4-2 with goals from Louie Arnold, Bobby Badham, Oliver Hart and Harvey Rawlinson.
In the League KO cup Little Oakley FC proved too strong for Frinton & Walton FC at the Memorial ground winning comfortably 5-0 where Jake Mayes grabbed a brace, whilst Ross Brazitis, Callum Green and Tyler Sullivan completed the scoring.
Back to Saturday and it was a truncated program.
At Ford Lane, Alresford Colne Rangers FC took a fine point off runaway leaders Stanway Pegasus FC in an exciting match. The marksmen for the leaders were Callum Griffiths and Craig Minter, Ryan Lewis and Jack Johnson replied. (Full match report on web-site)
There was only one further League game played, and that was in Division Two resulting in a win for Frinton & Walton FC over Thorpe Athletic FC 4-3 where Harvey O’Brien was the toast with a hat-trick and Sam Woods hit the fourth.
The win took Frinton up to 7th in the table whilst, and remain five points behind Brightlingsea Town, who have the perfect record of ten wins from ten games played.
The only other matches ironically were in the COVID Cup where Brantham Athletic FC “A”, Great Bradfords FC, Prettygate AFC, Flitch United FC, Sporting Rebels FC and Cavendish FC Reserves all progressed.
It was a fine day for Brantham Athletic FC ‘A’ who beat FC Clacton “A” 3-0 to move into the next round with goals from Alex Gibson, Harry Jenkins and Taylor Locke.
There were two goals for Great Bradford’s Nathan Postill in their 2-2 draw after 90 minutes, with Colne Athletic FC Reserves. However, they came out on top in the ensuing penalty shoot out winning 4-3.
Prettygate AFC were worthy winners after a goal less first half defeating Hedinghams United FC Reserves 5-1 with goals from Robert Czapla, Henry Ellis, Brandon Lam and a brace from Kaylem Keating.
Elsewhere Sporting Rebels FC beat Gas Recreation FC Reserves 5-2, and Flitch United FC comfortably beat Langham Lodgers FC 3-1.
Also into the next round are Cavendish FC Reserves who beat Stillwaters FC by a solitary goal.
The fourth-round ties of the Essex Premier Cup are due to be played on the 8th January 2022 and include the following matches –
Alresford Colne Rangers FC v Tiptree Heath FC
Old Southendians FC v Stanway Pegasus FC
Dunmow Town FC v Woodford East FC.
