Essex & Suffolk Border League Round Up 30th April 2022.
Stanway Pegasus FC completed their ‘champion’ league program in fine style to remain unbeaten throughout an amazing season.
In midweek they trounced Sudbury Sports FC 5-1 with Max Booth getting a brace with Reife Marangou and Bradley Beevis – Buchanan adding further goals, and on Saturday showed their class by eclipsing Tiptree Heath FC 7-1 where Max Booth struck a further three goals.
There were scenes of jubilation after League Treasurer, Brian Reed presented the League Winners Trophy.
The last time a side went through the season unbeaten was in the halcyon days of the then ‘mighty’ Gas Recreation FC who in 2012 / 2013 went through without loss from 28 games.
However, Stanway Pegasus FC accomplished this season in invincible fashion having won 32 from their 34 matches. An incredible achievement!
It is worthy of note that the four points dropped were the two drawn games against Alresford Colne Rangers FC.
The rapid rise of the Club will see them move to level six in the FA Pyramid next season and the Border League will wish them well for the future.

On Tuesday evening at Little Oakley FC Ground KO 7.45pm, Stanway will seek to complete the double, League and Knock – Out Cup, where they will again meet Tiptree Heath FC, and if Saturday’s result is anything to go by more success may be a formality.
Elsewhere in the Premier Division, Aran Yarwood and Scott Yearling were amongst the goals that enabled Colne Athletic FC to defeat Tiptree Heath FC in mid-week 3-1, whilst Dunmow Town FC thrashed a plucky Lawford Lads FC side 10-0 that ensured their third-place finish.
Back to Saturday, White Notley FC beat visiting Chelmsford City FC Reserves 3-1 where Matijus Mikalickas replied for ‘City’ who disappointingly finished the season in fifth place.
West Bergholt FC concluded their season with runners up spot, with a 5-2 win at home to Lawford Lads FC, and Colne Athletic FC made it into a creditable fourth place with a narrow 2 -1 home win over Barnston AFC.
In the First Division, Stanway Rovers FC U23s completed their season with a 3-1 at West Bergholt FC Reserves to win the title, albeit they could be caught on points by Belle Vue Social FC but have a much superior goal difference. Belle Vue Social FC were 3-0 winners at Cavendish FC.
Three teams are vying for the runners up spot. Belle Vue Social FC are favourites with two games to play, but both Silver End United FC and Cressing United FC both have chances to leapfrog and finish behind Rovers U 23s should ‘Social’ slip up.
On Monday 02nd May 2022 will see the “COVID Cup” final being played between Wormingford Wanderers FC and Barnston AFC Reserves. Little Oakley FC at 15:00pm.
Tuesday 03rd May 2022 sees the awaited Knock-Out Cup Final between Tiptree Heath FC and Stanway Pegasus FC. Little Oakley FC at 19:45pm.
On Friday 06th May 2022 will see the Tommy Thompson Cup Final contested between Great Bentley FC and Brightlingsea Town FC at Little Oakley KO 7.45pm.
